Cisco ATA 192 Multiplatform — 2-port analog telephone adapter with router for SIP platforms
2 × FXSMultiplatform SIPT.38 fax2 × 10/100 · router
The Cisco ATA 192 Multiplatform is a compact Cisco adapter that connects two analogue phones, fax machines or door/lift lines to an IP telephony system. It registers each FXS port as its own line on Webex Calling, BroadWorks, Metaswitch, Asterisk and other third-party SIP platforms, so legacy devices keep working after the move to VoIP.
The ATA 192 adds a second Ethernet port and a built-in router: the NETWORK port goes to the LAN or internet, and the ETHERNET port feeds a PC, so one cable serves both the phones and the computer.
Before you order: This is the Multiplatform (3PW) version for Webex Calling and third-party SIP. For an on-premises Cisco Unified CM system order the enterprise ATA191-K9 instead.
What's in the Box
- Cisco ATA 192 Multiplatform adapter
- Cisco 5 V DC power adapter (100–240 V AC input, approx. 1.8 m cord)
- No Ethernet cable or wall-mount screws are listed by Cisco
What It Means in Practice
- Keep the fax machine, a franking machine line or analogue cordless phones on the new IP system.
- Two independent lines: each FXS port has its own number and can be used at the same time.
- Fax over IP with T.38 (Group 3) or G.711 pass-through; for critical fax traffic Cisco still recommends testing with your provider.
- Install where there is only one network socket — the PC plugs into the ATA's LAN port (10/100 only).
What Will Not Work
- Registration on Cisco Unified CM (on-premises) — that is the ATA191-K9.
- PoE — the adapter runs only from its 5 V power supply.
- Gigabit Ethernet — ports are 10/100, so the PC behind it is capped at 100 Mbps.
- Connecting a PSTN/analogue line from the telco — FXS ports drive phones; they do not accept an incoming line (that needs an FXO gateway).

Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
ATAs are the cheapest way to keep analogue devices alive after a move to IP telephony. The key decision is the firmware: this Multiplatform unit suits Webex Calling and open SIP; Cisco Unified CM sites need the ATA191-K9. If you also need an internet gateway, see our routers.
✓ Buy it if you need to connect up to two analogue phones or a fax to Webex Calling or a SIP PBX.
✕ Skip it if you need more than two analogue ports, Gigabit Ethernet, PoE power or an incoming analogue line (FXO).
→ Also consider ATA191-K9 (for Cisco Unified CM).
