The Cisco SFP-H25G-CU2M= is a passive 25GBASE-CR1 direct-attach copper cable, 2 m long, with an SFP28 plug moulded onto each end. It connects a server to its top-of-rack switch, or two switches in the same rack, at 25 Gbps without optics, and Cisco states that at this length the host ports need no forward error correction. The “=” suffix marks the Cisco spare part. In practice, a DAC is the cheapest and lowest-power way to join a server to its top-of-rack switch, or two switches in the same rack: pick the shortest length that reaches without strain.
Compatibility — check before buying:
It needs an SFP28 (25G) port at both ends. Cisco does not list 10G operation for this cable — for 10G links the SFP-H10GB-CU2M is the 10G version. Lengths matter for FEC: the 2 m cable needs none, while the 2.5 m and 3 m versions need FC-FEC and the 4–5 m versions RS-FEC on the host.
