The Cisco C9200-NM-2Y= is the Catalyst 9200 2 x 25GE network module: an uplink module with two SFP28 slots that gives a modular Catalyst 9200 multigigabit switch 25G uplinks to the core or distribution layer.
It is meant for networks running C9200-24PXG or C9200-48PXG switches, where multigigabit access ports for Wi-Fi 6/6E access points need more uplink bandwidth than 10G.
Before you order: This module works ONLY in the Catalyst C9200-24PXG and C9200-48PXG. It does not fit other C9200 models (24T/48T/24P/48P etc.), and C9200L / C9200CX have fixed uplinks with no module slot. Minimum software: Cisco IOS XE 17.1.1.

What It Means in Practice
- Two 25G uplinks give up to 50 Gbps towards the core, matching the load of many multigigabit access points.
- The module is hot-swappable (OIR): Cisco asks you to wait 6–8 seconds between removal and insertion and to insert it without cables or transceivers attached.
- Port speed follows the optic installed, so plan SFP28 optics or DAC cables that match the device on the other end.
- Use Cisco-supported optics from the Cisco transceiver compatibility matrix.
What Will Not Work
- It will not work in a C9200-24P, C9200-48P, C9200-24T or any other non-PXG Catalyst 9200.
- It does not fit Catalyst 9200L, 9200CX, 9300 or 9300X switches.
- Cisco does not publish 1G/10G operation for this module — if your core is 10G, the C9200-NM-4X= 4 × 10G module is the safer choice.
- Transceivers are not included.
