The Cisco C9400-LC-24XS= is a 24-port 10 Gigabit Ethernet SFP+ line card for the Catalyst 9400 modular switch family, used to add high-density 10G fibre aggregation or collapsed-access ports to an existing C9404R, C9407R or C9410R chassis. Each port accepts a 10G SFP+ or 1G SFP module, and both types can be mixed on the same card without restrictions.
The "=" suffix marks it as a spare part: it is supplied on its own for upgrades, expansions or replacements in a chassis you already run. It fits any non-supervisor slot and supports hot swapping, so you can add it without powering down the switch.
Before you order: The bandwidth each card actually gets depends on your supervisor and chassis: with Sup-1 every slot gets 80 Gbps (3:1 oversubscribed), with Sup-2 240 Gbps and with Sup-2XL 480 Gbps (line rate). It requires Cisco IOS XE 16.6.2 or later. Tell us your chassis and supervisor and we will confirm the throughput.

What It Means in Practice
- Turns one chassis slot into 24 x 10G fibre ports — e.g. for building uplinks or server connections.
- Line rate on all 24 ports needs Sup-2/Sup-2XL (or Sup-1XL in the C9404R); with Sup-1 the card is 3:1 oversubscribed, which is usually fine for access aggregation.
- MACsec-256 in hardware encrypts links between buildings or to the core.
- Maximum per chassis: 48 ports in a C9404R, 120 in a C9407R, 192 in a C9410R.
What Will Not Work
- It does not fit Catalyst 4500-E, 9500, 9600 or 9300 switches — only Catalyst 9400 chassis.
- It does not run 25G (that is the C9400-LC-24XY) and provides no PoE.
- It cannot be installed in a supervisor slot.
- Transceivers are not included.
