The Cisco C9500-NM-8X= is the Catalyst 9500 Series 8-port 1/10 Gigabit Ethernet network module with SFP/SFP+ slots, used to add eight more 10G ports to a Catalyst 9500 core or aggregation switch.
It is mainly a spare and expansion part for existing C9500-16X and C9500-40X installations that need more 10G downlinks or a replacement module.
Before you order: Fits the Catalyst C9500-16X and C9500-40X. The fixed-port C9500 models (32C, 32QC, 24Y4C, 48Y4C) and C9500X do not accept it. Cisco has announced end-of-life: end of sale 30 April 2026, last date of support 30 April 2031, with no replacement product named.

What It Means in Practice
- Each slot takes a 1G SFP or 10G SFP+ optic or DAC cable, in any combination.
- Eight extra 10G ports let a C9500-16X or 40X connect more access switches, servers or storage at 10G.
- Hot-swappable: wait 6–8 seconds between removing and inserting a module.
- Because Cisco has ended sales of this module, plan spares for existing C9500-16X/40X installations now; support continues to 2031.
What Will Not Work
- It does not fit C9500-32C, 32QC, 24Y4C, 48Y4C or any C9500X model.
- It is not a Catalyst 9300 or 9200 module.
- No 25G or 40G ports.
- Transceivers are not included.
