Cisco Industrial Ethernet 1000 8-Port PoE+ DIN-Rail Switch with 2x Gigabit SFP
8x PoE/PoE+2x Gigabit SFP180 W PoE budget-40 to 70 °C
The Cisco IE-1000-8P2S-LM is a compact, fanless industrial Ethernet switch for DIN-rail cabinets, with eight 10/100 copper ports delivering PoE/PoE+ (IEEE 802.3af/at) from a 180 W budget and two Gigabit SFP uplinks. It is designed for factory floors, roadside and utility cabinets and building automation, where IP cameras, wireless bridges and sensors need power and a rugged switch that survives -40 to 70 °C.
"LM" means lite managed: configuration is done through the built-in web Device Manager, with SNMP, VLANs and IGMP/DHCP snooping, rather than a full Cisco IOS command line. It is a good fit for OT teams that want Cisco hardware without needing a network engineer on site.
Before you order: The switch runs on 48–54 V DC and the power supply is not included. To use the full 180 W PoE budget you need a PoE-capable industrial PSU of 240 W or more, such as PWR-IE240W-PCAC-L= or PWR-IE480W-PCAC-L=. Tell us your PoE load and we will match the PSU.
What's in the Box
- Cisco IE-1000-8P2S-LM switch with integrated DIN-rail mount
- Power and alarm terminal connectors
- Not included: DIN-rail power supply, SFP modules, console cable and 19-inch rack kit (STK-RACK-DINRAIL=)
What It Means in Practice
- Powers up to eight PoE or PoE+ devices directly from the cabinet — cameras, APs, card readers — within the 180 W total.
- The two Gigabit SFP uplinks take fibre modules, so the cabinet can sit hundreds of metres or kilometres from the control room.
- Dual DC inputs (DC-A / DC-B) give power-source redundancy: the switch draws from the higher input and fails over automatically.
- Fanless convection cooling — no moving parts to fail in dusty or vibrating locations.
What Will Not Work
- The copper ports are 10/100 Mbps, not Gigabit — fine for cameras and controllers, not for Gigabit clients.
- It will not run from mains AC directly; it needs a 48–54 V DC supply.
- It has no full IOS CLI or advanced Layer 3 routing — use an IE-3x00 for that.
- Hazardous-location (Class I Div 2, ATEX) use requires mounting in a suitable enclosure.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are the copper ports Gigabit?
No. The eight PoE ports are 10/100 Mbps; the two SFP uplinks are Gigabit.
Which power supply do I need?
A 48–54 V DC industrial PSU. For the full 180 W PoE budget use 240 W or more, e.g. PWR-IE240W-PCAC-L=.
Can it be mounted in a 19-inch rack?
Yes, with the separate STK-RACK-DINRAIL= rack kit; it mounts on DIN rail by default.
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
The IE-1000-8P2S-LM is the simplest way to put Cisco-grade PoE into a field cabinet: fanless, wide-temperature and managed from a browser. Size the DC power supply to your PoE load, and choose fibre SFPs rated for the cabinet temperature. See our other
network switches for indoor models.
✓ Buy it if you need PoE+ for cameras or sensors in an outdoor or factory cabinet and want Cisco hardware managed via web GUI.
✕ Skip it if you need Gigabit copper ports, full IOS CLI or Layer 3 routing.
→ Also consider the TRENDnet TI-PG62 for a lower-cost unmanaged industrial PoE+ option.
Send us your device list, cabinet temperature and uplink distance and we will match the PSU and SFP modules before you order.
