The Cisco Secure Firewall 1210CE (part number CSF1210CE-TD-K9) is a compact desktop firewall from Cisco’s current 1200 Series, shipped with Cisco Secure Firewall Threat Defense (FTD) software. It has eight 1 GbE RJ-45 ports a built-in 480 GB NVMe SSD and a quiet blower rated at 23.5 dBA. With Threat Defense Cisco rates it at 6.0 Gbps with application visibility and intrusion prevention on, 5.0 Gbps of IPsec VPN and 1.0 Gbps of TLS decryption. In practice it gives a small or branch office several times the throughput of the older Firepower 1010 in the same desktop size.

Compatibility — check before buying:
It ships with Threat Defense. IPS (Threat), Malware Defense, URL Filtering and Cisco Secure Client remote-access VPN are term subscriptions, not included. There is no PoE; if you want to power access points or cameras from the firewall, choose the 1210CP. Rack and wall kits (CSF1200C-RACK-MNT=, CSF1200C-WALL-MNT=) are optional. Tell us your internet line and users and we size it with you.

What is the difference between 1210CE and 1210CP?
Both have eight 1 GbE ports, a 480 GB NVMe SSD and the same throughput. The 1210CP adds PoE+ on ports 5 to 8 with a 120 W budget and comes with a larger PoE power supply.
Can I switch to ASA later?
Yes. Cisco documents reimaging between ASA and Threat Defense on the 1200 Series. The device must first be removed from Smart Licensing, and licences follow the software.
Which licences do I need?
The firewall works with the base licence. IPS, Malware Defense and URL Filtering are subscriptions, and remote-access VPN needs Cisco Secure Client licences.
Can I mount it in a rack?
Yes, with the optional CSF1200C-RACK-MNT= kit. A wall kit is also available. On its own it is a desktop unit.
