The Citizen CBM-920II (P/N CBM920II40RFDC) is a specialised serial dot-impact (dot matrix) panel-mount printer built by Citizen Systems. Unlike thermal POS printers, it uses an inked ribbon and impact mechanism, making it ideal for applications where the receipt must remain legible for years in harsh environments (heat, sunlight, chemicals) such as parking meters, weighing scales, gas pumps, measurement equipment, kiosks and ATMs. This variant runs at 40 columns over an RS-232 Serial interface with a DC power input, in a compact 0.47 kg white housing.
Compatibility Note: This is a panel-mount industrial printer, not a desktop POS receipt printer. It requires DC power and an RS-232 Serial host. Confirm enclosure cut-out dimensions and DC voltage availability before purchase.

✓ Weighing scales & lab equipment
✓ Gas pumps & fuel dispensers
✓ Kiosks & ATMs
✓ Industrial measurement instruments
✓ Long-life archival receipts
Key Features
Long-life impact printing
Dot-impact (ribbon) printing produces receipts that remain legible for years — resistant to heat, sunlight and chemicals that fade thermal paper. Ideal for outdoor and industrial deployments.
Panel mount + auto loading
Designed for flush integration into kiosk fronts, control panels and equipment enclosures. Auto paper loading and paper-end sensor minimise operator intervention.
Compact and reliable
Just 106 × 180 × 88 mm and 0.47 kg, with a 1.5 million-line MCBF mechanism. Operates from 0 to +40°C with stable performance over many years.
Bit image graphics + ESC/POS
Bit image graphics printing, integral memory switch and ESC/POS emulation make integration straightforward in custom firmware and PC POS environments.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this a thermal receipt printer?
No — the CBM-920II is a dot-impact (dot matrix) printer that uses an inked ribbon. It is designed for long-life receipts in industrial, outdoor and kiosk applications where thermal paper would fade.
Where does the CBM-920II fit?
It panel-mounts into kiosks, parking meters, weighing scales, gas pumps, ATMs, lab instruments and other equipment where a small, robust printer is needed. It is not intended for retail counter use.
Why is the speed only 2.5 lines/sec?
Dot-impact mechanical printing is slower than thermal — but receipts last for years. For high-volume POS, choose a thermal printer like the Citizen CT-S280 or Bixolon SRP-330IIISK.
Can it print barcodes?
No — barcode symbologies are not supported on this model. It is optimised for plain text and bit-image graphics on long-life receipts.
Singular Expert Insight
Choose the CBM-920II only if you need a panel-mount, dot-impact printer for kiosks, parking meters, weighing scales or industrial equipment — where receipts must remain legible for years and thermal paper would fade. For retail counter POS, choose a thermal printer instead (Bixolon SRP-330IIISK or Epson TM-T20III).
Buyer's Guide
Buy it if
You are integrating a small, panel-mount printer into a kiosk, parking meter, weighing scale or industrial instrument — and need durable, fade-resistant impact receipts with RS-232 serial control and DC power.
Skip it if
You need a fast retail POS printer (this prints only 2.5 lines/sec), barcode support, USB or Ethernet connectivity, or a desktop printer — choose a thermal POS printer instead.
