How to choose the right VoIP accessory
- Match the exact phone model. Power supplies, wall mounts, stands, handsets and expansion modules are made for specific series (for example Cisco 8800, Yealink T4 or Grandstream GXP). Check your phone's model on its label before ordering.
- Power. If your switch has no PoE, add the phone's own power supply or a PoE injector. Check the plug type: Cyprus uses UK three-pin sockets.
- Expansion modules add BLF and speed-dial keys for receptionists and operators; the phone supports a limited number of modules.
- Headsets. Cisco and Poly headsets connect by RJ-9, 3.5 mm, USB or a wireless base. For wireless headsets on desk phones, an EHS cable lets you answer calls from the headset.
- DECT coverage. Repeaters and extra base stations extend cordless coverage to more floors or a warehouse. They must match your DECT system.
- Analogue devices on VoIP. Analogue telephone adapters (ATA) and FXS gateways connect fax machines, door phones and analogue phones to an IP phone system. FXO gateways connect a phone line to an IP-PBX.
