Club3D CAC-1088 DisplayPort 1.4 to HDMI 2.1 Active Adapter

Active DP 1.4 to HDMI 2.18K 60 Hz4K 240 Hz with DSC

The Club3D CAC-1088 is an active DisplayPort 1.4 (male) to HDMI 2.1 (female) adapter that lets a PC or graphics card with a DP output drive an HDMI 2.1 TV or monitor at 4K 120 Hz, up to 4K 240 Hz and 8K 60 Hz with DSC. It is a one-way, bus-powered adapter: plug it into the DP port, connect your existing HDMI cable, and no external power or drivers are needed.

HDR passes through, and Club3D notes that HDMI CEC can be enabled via a firmware update, which is useful when the adapter feeds a living-room TV.

Compatibility note: The adapter is uni-directional (DisplayPort source to HDMI display only) — it cannot connect an HDMI source to a DP monitor. 8K 60 Hz and 4K 240 Hz require a DP 1.4 source with DSC 1.2 support and an HDMI 2.1 display; use an Ultra High Speed HDMI cable from the adapter to the screen.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the CAC-1088 work with an HDMI 2.1 TV for PC gaming at 4K 120 Hz?
Yes — that is its main use. Connect it to the DisplayPort output of your graphics card and run an Ultra High Speed HDMI cable to the TV; 4K 120 Hz with HDR is supported, and VRR/refresh behaviour depends on the TV and GPU driver.
What is the difference between the CAC-1088 and the CAC-1087?
Both use the same DP 1.4 to HDMI 2.1 conversion. The CAC-1088 is a short adapter with an HDMI female port so you can use any HDMI cable length; the CAC-1087 is a fixed 3 m DP-to-HDMI cable with male connectors on both ends.

Singular Expert Insight

Most GPUs already have one HDMI 2.1 port, so the CAC-1088 earns its place when you need a second HDMI 2.1 screen from a spare DisplayPort output, or when a workstation card offers DisplayPort only. It is one of the few adapters that also supports 4K 240 Hz through DSC. If your display is just 4K 60 Hz, a basic DP-to-HDMI 2.0 adapter is enough.
✓ Buy it if you need 4K 120 Hz or 8K from a DP-only GPU output to an HDMI 2.1 TV or monitor.
✕ Skip it if your source is HDMI (it only converts DP to HDMI), or your screen is 4K 60 Hz.
→ Also consider Club3D CAC-1087 (3 m cable version) or Equip 133446 (DP 1.4 to HDMI 2.1 adapter, 8K 60 Hz).
