The Club 3D CAC-2113 is a compact active adapter that converts a Mini DisplayPort output into an analogue VGA signal, letting a laptop, workstation or Mac with a Mini DP socket drive a legacy VGA monitor, projector or KVM at up to WUXGA 1920 x 1200 60Hz. Sold under part number CAC-2113, it has a Mini DisplayPort male plug on a short 22.86 cm lead and a VGA female socket at the other end, so you keep the VGA cable already run to the display. The conversion is done actively and powered by the Mini DisplayPort output itself — no external supply, no drivers, and no dependency on dual-mode DP++ support. Compatibility — check before buying:

Does the CAC-2113 work with my Mini DisplayPort laptop or Mac?
It is designed for any Mini DisplayPort output that carries video, which includes Thunderbolt 1 and 2 ports on older Mac hardware as well as Mini DP sockets on mobile workstations and professional graphics cards. Because it converts actively it does not need the port to support DP++ dual mode, and no drivers are required.
Is a VGA cable included?
No. The adapter ends in a VGA female socket, which is the point — you plug in the VGA cable already running to the projector or monitor rather than replacing it. If no VGA cable exists, a Mini DisplayPort to VGA cable may suit you better than an adapter plus a separate lead.
Will sound reach the projector through this adapter?
No. VGA is an analogue video-only interface with no audio pins, so audio needs its own 3.5 mm or optical cable, or it stays on the laptop speakers.
