Club 3D CAC-1091 DisplayPort 2.1 VESA DP80 Certified Cable 1.2 m — 80 Gbps for 4K 240Hz and beyond

80 Gbps · UHBR20VESA DP80 certified4K 240Hz · 8K 60Hz · 10K 60Hz1.2 m · fully bi-directional

The Club 3D CAC-1091 is a 1.2-metre DisplayPort 2.1 cable carrying VESA DP80 certification, which is the top tier of the standard and guarantees the full 80 Gbps UHBR20 link rate rather than a marketing claim about it. Sold under part number CAC-1091, Club 3D publishes support for resolutions up to 4K 240Hz, 8K 60Hz or 10K 60Hz with Display Stream Compression 1.2, along with Forward Error Correction, HDR and up to 32 inline audio channels. Both ends use the new DP80 connector with a locking latch, the cable is fully bi-directional, and the soft Ultra-Flex jacket keeps a short desk run tidy. Typically in stock with fast delivery across Cyprus.

Compatibility — check before buying:
DP80 certification describes the cable, not your hardware — the 80 Gbps UHBR20 link rate only appears when the graphics card and the monitor both support DisplayPort 2.1 at UHBR20, which today means recent AMD and Intel graphics and a small number of high-refresh panels. On older hardware the cable is fully backwards compatible and simply runs at whatever rate the link negotiates. Reaching the published resolutions also requires DSC 1.2 support on the connected devices, and Club 3D asks you to keep display firmware and graphics drivers up to date. One inconsistency in Club 3D own documentation is worth knowing: the product name and the data sheet publish 4K 240Hz, 8K 60Hz and 10K 60Hz, while a generic row in the shop specification table reads 8K 240Hz and 4K 720Hz — the figures in this listing follow the product name and the data sheet. Note also the short length: 1.2 m suits a desk-mounted PC and a monitor beside it, not a floor-standing tower.

Key Features

VESA DP80 certified for the full 80 Gbps
DP80 is the highest certification tier VESA issues for DisplayPort 2.1 cables and it means the cable has been tested to carry UHBR20 across all four lanes. Uncertified cables sold as DisplayPort 2.1 frequently negotiate down to UHBR13.5 or UHBR10 under load.

4K 240Hz, 8K 60Hz or 10K 60Hz
Club 3D publishes support for resolutions up to 4K 240Hz, 8K 60Hz or 10K 60Hz on this cable. That headroom is what keeps a high-refresh gaming panel or a 10K reference display running without falling back to reduced chroma.

UHBR20 with DSC 1.2 and FEC
The cable supports the full UHBR10, UHBR13.5 and UHBR20 link rates, with Display Stream Compression 1.2 and Forward Error Correction. HDR passes through, along with up to 32 inline audio channels.

Fully bi-directional, locking DP80 plugs
Club 3D states the cable is fully bi-directional, so neither end is a designated source. Both plugs use the new DP80 connector with the standard DisplayPort latch, inside a soft Ultra-Flex jacket that bends without stressing the connector shells.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does VESA DP80 certification actually mean?
DP80 is the top certification tier for DisplayPort 2.1 cables. It means VESA has tested the cable to carry the UHBR20 link rate across all four lanes for the full 80 Gbps. Cables sold as DisplayPort 2.1 without that certification are only guaranteed to the lower UHBR10 or UHBR13.5 rates.
Will I see any benefit on a DisplayPort 1.4 graphics card?
Not in bandwidth. The cable is backwards compatible and will work perfectly on DisplayPort 1.4 hardware, but the link negotiates at HBR3 and 32.4 Gbps because that is what the endpoints support. The benefit arrives when the graphics card or the monitor is replaced with DisplayPort 2.1 hardware.
Is 1.2 m long enough?
It suits a monitor next to the machine — a desk-mounted PC, a small-form-factor system, or a console-style setup. For a tower on the floor and a display on the desk, measure first: 1.2 m is often short once the cable has been routed properly behind the desk.
What is the difference between this and a DisplayPort 1.4 HBR3 cable?
Bandwidth. HBR3 tops out at 32.4 Gbps, which is enough for 8K 60Hz with compression. DP80 carries up to 80 Gbps, which is what allows 4K at 240Hz and 10K at 60Hz. If your monitor is 4K 144Hz or below, an HBR3 cable is already sufficient.
Singular Expert Insight
DisplayPort 2.1 is one of the few places where the cable genuinely matters rather than being a marketing upsell. UHBR20 runs at 20 Gbps per lane, which is aggressive over passive copper, and this is exactly why VESA created the DP80 certification programme — an uncertified cable will often train down to a lower rate under load rather than failing outright, so you lose refresh rate or chroma without any obvious error. Buying a certified cable removes the cable from the list of suspects. What it will not do is upgrade your hardware: if the graphics card is DisplayPort 1.4, the link stays at HBR3 regardless. The short 1.2 m length is a deliberate choice too, because UHBR20 gets harder to sustain the longer the copper run becomes. Browse our DisplayPort cables and converters for HBR3 options if your hardware is DisplayPort 1.4, or our graphics cards to check which cards actually output UHBR20.

Buyer’s Guide

Buy it if

You have or are about to buy DisplayPort 2.1 hardware — a 4K 240Hz gaming panel, an 8K or 10K display, or a recent AMD or Intel graphics card — and you want a VESA DP80 certified cable so the link is not the thing holding the refresh rate back.

Skip it if

Your graphics card and monitor are DisplayPort 1.4 or older, where an HBR3 cable delivers exactly the same result for less. Also skip it if 1.2 m is too short for your desk layout, or if either end of the link is HDMI, Mini DisplayPort or USB-C.

Also consider

A DisplayPort 1.4 HBR3 cable if the hardware tops out at 8K 60Hz or 4K 144Hz, a longer DP80 cable if 1.2 m will not reach, or an HDMI 2.1 cable if the display in question is a television rather than a monitor.
