Club 3D CAC-2170 Mini DisplayPort 1.2 to HDMI 2.0 UHD Active Adapter — 4K 60Hz from a Mini DP output
4K UHD 4096 x 2160 at 60HzActive HDMI 2.0 converter18 Gbps · 8-channel audioNo DP++ source required
The Club 3D CAC-2170 is an active adapter that turns a Mini DisplayPort output into a full HDMI 2.0 signal, so a workstation, mobile workstation or professional graphics card with Mini DP sockets can drive a 4K television, projector or HDMI monitor at 4K UHD 4096 x 2160 60Hz. Sold under part number CAC-2170, it is an active HDMI 2.0 signal converter rather than a passive dongle: the conversion is done by electronics inside the shell, so the source does not have to be a dual-mode DP++ port. Club 3D publishes 18 Gbps of HDMI throughput and support for up to 8 channels of audio, on a short black pigtail with a Mini DisplayPort male plug and an HDMI female socket. Typically in stock with fast delivery across Cyprus.
Compatibility — check before buying:
The Mini DisplayPort end is the source and the HDMI end is the display — the adapter converts in one direction only and cannot feed a Mini DisplayPort monitor from an HDMI source. You supply your own HDMI cable; the adapter itself terminates in an HDMI female socket on a short attached lead, which Club 3D describes as roughly 9 cm. Because it is an active converter it does not depend on the graphics card offering DP++ dual-mode output. One inconsistency in Club 3D own documentation is worth knowing: the product name says Mini DisplayPort 1.2 while the connector table on the same page lists Mini DisplayPort 1.4 — in practice the 4K 60Hz ceiling is set by the HDMI 2.0 side at 18 Gbps either way. Club 3D lists Windows 11 and macOS Tahoe as supported operating systems.
Key Features
Active HDMI 2.0 conversion
Club 3D describes the CAC-2170 as an active HDMI 2.0 signal converter. That means real electronics do the DisplayPort-to-HDMI translation, so it works from Mini DisplayPort outputs that do not support the older passive DP++ dual-mode scheme.
4K UHD at 60Hz, not 30Hz
Club 3D publishes 4K UHD 4096 x 2160p at 60Hz. That is the distinction that matters against older Mini DP to HDMI dongles, which were built to HDMI 1.4 and stall at 4K 30Hz — unusable for anything but signage.
18 Gbps and 8-channel audio
The HDMI 2.0 output carries the full 18 Gbps of TMDS throughput and up to 8 channels of audio, so a 4K television or an AV receiver receives both picture and multichannel sound over a single HDMI run.
Short pigtail, HDMI socket
The adapter uses a short attached lead ending in an HDMI female socket rather than a rigid block, which keeps the strain off a laptop Mini DisplayPort port and lets you plug in whatever length of HDMI cable the room needs.

Singular Expert Insight
Mini DisplayPort to HDMI is one of the easiest places in AV to buy the wrong thing. The market is full of cheap passive dongles that were designed around HDMI 1.4, and they behave perfectly on a 1080p projector and then quietly limit a 4K television to 30Hz — which looks like a broken mouse pointer rather than an obvious fault. The CAC-2170 is the active, HDMI 2.0 version of that product, which is what you actually want if the destination is a modern 4K panel. The one thing to check before ordering is the direction of travel: this converts a Mini DP computer into an HDMI display, not the reverse, and consoles or media players that output HDMI need a different device entirely. Browse our HDMI cables and adapters for the cable that goes on the other side, or our DisplayPort cables and converters if the display turns out to have a DisplayPort input after all.
Buyer’s Guide
Buy it if
Your computer has a Mini DisplayPort output, the display or projector only takes HDMI, and you need genuine 4K 60Hz rather than the 4K 30Hz that older passive dongles deliver — with multichannel audio down the same HDMI run.
Skip it if
The display has a DisplayPort input, in which case a straight Mini DP to DisplayPort cable is cheaper and cleaner. Also skip it if the HDMI device is the source, or if your source port is full-size DisplayPort or USB-C rather than Mini DisplayPort.
Also consider
A Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort cable if the monitor has a DP input, a full-size DisplayPort to HDMI active adapter if the source port is standard DisplayPort, or a USB-C to HDMI adapter for a laptop that exposes DisplayPort Alt Mode over Type-C.
