Club 3D CAC-1180 — Mini DisplayPort 1.4 to HDMI 2.0b HDR Active Adapter
Active Mini DP to HDMI4096x2160 at 60HzStatic and Dynamic HDRHDCP 2.2 Repeater
The Club 3D CAC-1180 is an active Mini DisplayPort 1.4 to HDMI 2.0b adapter that drives an HDMI display at up to 4096x2160 at 60Hz with HDR — for anyone whose laptop, workstation or Thunderbolt 1/2 Mac has a Mini DisplayPort output while the monitor, TV or projector only has HDMI. Club 3D sells it under part number CAC-1180 with EAN 8719214470869, and the official datasheet describes a DisplayPort 1.4 receiver feeding an HDMI 2.0b transmitter, with static and dynamic HDR, HDCP 2.2 repeater function and colour depth up to 16bpc. The lead is 168.6 mm long and the adapter weighs 30 g. Typically in stock with fast delivery across Cyprus.
Compatibility — check before buying:
This adapter is one-directional: Club 3D’s datasheet makes the Mini DisplayPort end the receiver and the HDMI end the transmitter, so it converts a Mini DP source to an HDMI display and will not drive a Mini DisplayPort monitor from an HDMI source. It needs a physical Mini DisplayPort output — that includes Thunderbolt 1 and Thunderbolt 2 ports of the same shape, but not the USB-C shaped Thunderbolt 3, 4 or 5 ports on current laptops. The HDMI end is female, so an HDMI cable is not included, and there is a single output with no MST or daisy-chaining. The DisplayPort side runs at HBR2, not HBR3, and Club 3D’s datasheet lists no DSC — the DSC 1.2 model in this family is the CAC-1186. Club 3D publishes no chipset, operating-temperature or connector-plating figures for this part, and no driver, Apple-silicon or Thunderbolt restriction statement.
Key Features
4096x2160 at 60Hz — not a 4K30 dongle
The CAC-1180 carries full DCI 4K at 60Hz over HDMI 2.0b, with a 600 MHz maximum TMDS character clock and a dual pixel path up to 16bpc. At 4K60 in RGB or YCbCr 4:4:4 it runs 8bpc; the adapter’s own pixel-encoding conversion to YCbCr 4:2:0 is what allows deeper colour at that resolution. Note the figure is 4096x2160, wider than the 3840x2160 of the older CAC-1170.
Static and dynamic HDR with HDCP repeater function
Club 3D lists support for both static and dynamic High Dynamic Range, plus HDCP 1.3-to-1.4 and HDCP 2.2-to-1.4/2.2 repeater functions, so protected 4K content from a Mini DP source reaches an HDMI display correctly. CEC snooping and tunnelling are supported, and the adapter converts frame-sequential 3D to stacked top-bottom while passing other 3D formats through.
Active conversion, with full audio carried across
This is an active adapter rather than a passive pin-swap: a DisplayPort 1.4 receiver running at HBR2 feeds an HDMI 2.0b transmitter, and it expands VESA CVT timings to CEA timings as the DisplayPort 1.4 specification requires. Audio travels with the picture in LPCM and compressed formats, up to 192 kHz across 8 channels or 768 kHz in stereo. The unit is black, 168.6 x 20 x 11 mm, 30 g, and RoHS, FCC and CE EMI compliant.

Singular Expert Insight
Buy the CAC-1180 for its tier, not just its plug shape. It is the HDMI 2.0b, HBR2 rung of Club 3D’s Mini DisplayPort ladder: 4K60 with genuine static and dynamic HDR and HDCP 2.2, which is exactly right for a Mini DisplayPort laptop or an older Thunderbolt 2 Mac feeding a 4K TV or monitor. If your display is 4K120 or 8K capable, the money belongs in the CAC-1186 or CAC-1188 instead — the CAC-1180 cannot reach those, because its DisplayPort side runs HBR2 and the datasheet lists no DSC, whatever the shop page’s summary line suggests. You will need your own lead, since the output is a socket, so pick one from our HDMI cables and adapters range. And if your host actually has a full-size DisplayPort port rather than a Mini one, the CAC-1080 in our DisplayPort cables and converters range is the identical engine with the right connector.
Buyer’s Guide
Buy it if
Your source has a physical Mini DisplayPort or Thunderbolt 1/2 output and your display is HDMI, and you want the full 4096x2160 at 60Hz with static and dynamic HDR rather than a 4K30 passive dongle. HDCP 2.2 repeater support means protected 4K content gets through, and audio travels with the picture at up to 192 kHz across 8 channels.
Skip it if
Your laptop has USB-C shaped Thunderbolt 3, 4 or 5 — this plug simply will not fit. Skip it too if you are targeting 4K120Hz or 8K, because the DisplayPort side is HBR2 and Club 3D lists no DSC for this model, so those refresh rates and resolutions are out of reach.
Also consider
CAC-1186 for 4K120Hz with DSC 1.2, or CAC-1188 for HDMI 2.1 and 8K60Hz. CAC-1080 if your host has a full-size DisplayPort port instead of Mini, CAC-1082 for the same conversion as a 2 m one-piece cable, and CAC-2170 for the cheaper DisplayPort 1.2 tier without HDR.
