The Conceptronic HUBBIES02B is a compact four-port USB 3.0 hub in a 52 mm square body just 14 mm thick, weighing 26 g. Unlike most hubs at this size its cable is not captive: the hub carries a socket and the 0.4 m lead is supplied loose, so a damaged cable is replaced rather than the whole hub. All four ports run at up to 5 Gbps.
Compatibility — check before buying:
The socket on the hub is USB Mini-B, not Micro-B. The supplied lead is USB-A male to USB Mini-B male, 0.4 m — and if it is ever lost, the replacement is a Mini-B cable, which is not the connector most people have spare in a drawer. Worth noting before the hub goes to a site where cables get borrowed. The host end is USB-A, so a USB-C-only laptop needs an adapter or a different model. The hub is bus-powered and Conceptronic states no Power Delivery, so it cannot charge a laptop; there is no video output and no Ethernet. Windows XP through 10 and macOS 10.6 or newer are the listed systems, and the hub is rated for -10 to 65 °C.
