The Conceptronic HUBBIES12B splits the difference that most four-port hubs refuse to: two USB-C ports and two USB-A ports from a single USB-C connector, all at up to 5 Gbps. That makes it the hub for a desk halfway through the changeover — a USB-C drive and an older keyboard both plug in directly. The aluminium body is 24 x 92 x 12 mm and weighs 20 g, on a 15 cm captive lead.

Compatibility — check before buying:
The plug is USB-C, so a computer with only USB-A ports needs a different model. Conceptronic states explicitly that USB Power Delivery is not supported: there is no charging input, so the hub cannot charge your laptop, and on a machine with a single USB-C port you will have to choose between the hub and the charger. It is bus-powered with no external supply, which suits keyboards, mice, dongles, flash drives, card readers and one bus-powered SSD, but not two portable hard drives spinning together. There is no video output, no Ethernet and no card slot. Conceptronic lists Windows XP through 11 and macOS 10.6 or newer.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will it charge my laptop or phone?
Conceptronic states that USB Power Delivery is not supported, so it will not charge a laptop. A phone or a small accessory plugged into one of the ports draws ordinary USB current, which charges slowly. There is no separate charging socket on the hub.
Can I use it on a computer that only has USB-A ports?
Not directly — the hub’s own plug is USB-C. A C-to-A adapter would work electrically but adds a part to lose. Tell us which machine you have and we will point you at a hub with the right plug on it.
How does it compare with the other Conceptronic HUBBIES hubs?
On the port mix. Other models in the range are four USB-A only, four USB-C only, or a mix where three of the four ports run at USB 2.0 speeds. The HUBBIES12B is the one that gives you two USB-C and two USB-A, all at 5 Gbps — so order by part number rather than by the photograph.
Can I run an external SSD from it?
Yes, on either connector type, and it will reach up to 5 Gbps if nothing else is busy on the hub. Two drives copying at the same time will each get roughly half the bandwidth, and a drive with its own mains adapter still needs it.

Four-port hubs almost always commit you to one connector, which is why this one is worth knowing about: two USB-C and two USB-A means the SSD you bought last year and the keyboard you bought five years ago both plug in without an adapter. Be clear about what it deliberately leaves out — no Power Delivery, no video, no Ethernet. That makes it a good travel hub and a poor desk dock.
