Thermaltake Contac 9 SE — Compact Tower Cooler for Mainstream CPUs
92 mm PWM fan2 copper heatpipes120 W cooling power131 mm tall
The Thermaltake Contac 9 SE is a compact single-tower CPU air cooler with a 92 mm PWM fan and two Ø6 mm copper heatpipes, rated by Thermaltake for 120 W of cooling power. It is a quiet, affordable upgrade over a stock cooler for office PCs, home builds and entry gaming systems with mainstream Intel and AMD processors.
It supports current sockets including Intel LGA1851 and LGA1700 and AMD AM5 and AM4, plus older platforms, and its 130.9 mm height fits most standard and many compact cases. The narrow 38 mm heatsink leaves room for tall memory modules.
Before you order: Check your case CPU cooler clearance (at least 131 mm) and your processor power. At 120 W cooling power, this cooler is meant for mainstream CPUs, not for high-end unlocked processors under sustained heavy load.
What's in the Box
- Thermaltake Contac 9 SE cooler with 92 mm PWM fan
- Fan clips (specially designed)
- Intel and AMD mounting parts as listed in the manual
- Thermaltake does not publish whether thermal paste is included — check before ordering if you need it
What It Means in Practice
- A clear step up from a basic boxed cooler: lower temperatures and less fan noise at idle thanks to PWM control (800–2000 RPM).
- At 24.5 dBA the fan stays quiet in office and home-office PCs.
- The 38 mm wide tower does not block memory slots, so high-profile RAM can be installed.
- The 92 mm size suits Micro ATX and compact mid-tower cases.
What Will Not Work
- High-TDP unlocked CPUs (for example Core i7/i9 K or Ryzen 9 under full load) need a larger cooler.
- HEDT and server sockets such as LGA2066, sTRX4 and SP3 are not supported.
- Cases with less than about 131 mm CPU cooler clearance cannot fit it.
- There is no RGB lighting.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will it fit my AM5 or LGA1700 motherboard?
Yes, both are on Thermaltake's supported socket list, together with LGA1851, LGA1200 and AM4.
Is it enough for my CPU?
Thermaltake rates it at 120 W of cooling power. That suits most mainstream non-K Intel and Ryzen 5/7 processors; for high-end unlocked chips under sustained load choose a larger tower or liquid cooler.
How tall is it?
130.9 mm, so check your case specification for CPU cooler clearance.
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
For office and home PCs, a 92 mm tower like the Contac 9 SE is the sweet spot: quieter and cooler than a boxed fan without the size of a large tower. When rebuilding a PC, it is also worth checking the
power supply — an old unit is a common source of noise and instability.
✓ Buy it if you want a quiet, compact upgrade over a stock cooler for a mainstream Intel or AMD CPU.
✕ Skip it if you run a high-end unlocked processor, or your case has less than 131 mm cooler clearance.
→ Also consider a 120 mm single-tower cooler for higher-power CPUs.
