COUGAR 200K — Scissor Gaming Keyboard, QWERTY, Black

Scissor switches7-colour backlight19-key rolloverQuiet action

The COUGAR 200K is the unusual one in a gaming range: a scissor-switch keyboard rather than a mechanical one, built for players who want a quiet, low-profile action and a backlight without the clatter that comes with Blue switches. COUGAR gives it a full-key backlight in seven colours with a breathing effect, 19-key rollover anti-ghosting across the gaming keys, an FN swap between WASD and the arrow keys, and a selectable 1X / 2X repeat-rate acceleration for repeated presses. The body is 450 × 165 × 23 mm and a solid 870 g with a non-slip rubber stand, on a 1.6 m USB cable. COUGAR’s own words for it are that you can play at night without disturbing anybody — which is the whole reason this keyboard exists.

Compatibility — check before buying:
Layout: The keycaps are QWERTY, but the manufacturer does not publish which national variant this part number carries, so we cannot promise where the symbols and the Enter key sit. Tell us the layout you need and we will check the actual stock before you order. It is a wired USB keyboard, plug and play with no software — the backlight colours and the FN functions live on the board itself, so there is nothing to install and nothing to configure per machine. COUGAR lists Windows 7, 8 and 10 only. Two things to know before you order. First, COUGAR has moved the 200K into its discontinued range: it is no longer in the current keyboards catalogue, so treat it as a legacy model — ask us before you commit to standardising on it. Second, COUGAR publishes no key count, no key travel, no key life rating, no polling rate, no keycap material and no layout for this part number, and its own datasheet link is dead; the QWERTY description comes from our supplier data, not from COUGAR. There is no wrist rest and no detachable cable.

Best For

✓ Night gaming next to someone who is asleep
✓ Players who prefer a short scissor action to a mechanical one
✓ Shared rooms and dorms where a clicky board is not welcome
✓ Desks that want backlighting without RGB software
✓ Anyone replacing a loud mechanical keyboard
✓ Light gaming plus everyday office work on one board

Key Features

Scissor switches in a gaming board
A short, quiet, low-profile action — rare in gaming keyboards, and the reason to pick this one over a clicky mechanical.

Seven backlight colours, no software
Full key backlighting with a breathing effect, selected on the keyboard itself with nothing to install.

19-key rollover
Anti-ghosting across the gaming keys, so simultaneous presses register when several keys go down at once.

WASD and arrow swap
An FN combination exchanges WASD with the arrow keys, plus a 1X/2X repeat-rate acceleration for repeated presses.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it loud?
No — that is the point of it. Scissor switches give a short, quiet action, which is why COUGAR sells it as the keyboard you can play on at night.
Is there RGB software?
No. Seven backlight colours with a breathing effect, all selected on the board. Nothing to install, and no per-key colour control.
Is the 200K still current?
No. COUGAR has moved it into its discontinued keyboards range. It still works exactly as described, but tell us before you standardise a fleet on it.
Which layout does it have?
COUGAR does not publish a layout for this part number. Our supplier data says QWERTY keycaps. Tell us the layout you need and we will confirm the actual stock before you order.
Singular Expert Insight
The 200K is a niche worth knowing about: a gaming keyboard for someone who hates the noise of gaming keyboards. Just go in knowing it is a legacy model and that COUGAR publishes very little about it. See the rest of our keyboards.

Buyer’s Guide

Buy it if

You want a quiet, backlit, low-profile gaming keyboard with anti-ghosting and no software to install.

Skip it if

You want mechanical switches, per-key RGB, macro software, a wrist rest, or a current model with a full published specification.

Also consider

Ask us for a current COUGAR mechanical keyboard, or the Inca IKG-444 if you actually want Blue mechanical switches.
