Datalogic DSM0422-WA is a compact fixed-mount 2D scan module with a megapixel Wide Angle imager and USB interface, designed to be built into kiosks, self-checkouts, price checkers, ticket gates, lockers and access-control points.
At just 4.7 x 2.7 x 3.8 cm it fits where a handheld scanner cannot, and it reads 1D, 2D and postal codes from tickets, cards and phone screens presented in front of it. Triggered, Autosense and Soft Trigger modes let it wake automatically when a code appears.
Before you order: This is an OEM component, not a desktop scanner: it has no stand or housing for counter use. Mixing up variants is easy — DSM0452-WA is RS-232 (2 m cable) and DSM0492-WA has an RJ-45 connector; this 0422 version is USB with a 50 cm cable.

What It Means in Practice
- Integrators can mount it from five sides with the included bracket and plug it straight into the kiosk PC over USB.
- In USB keyboard (HID) mode, scans appear in the kiosk application with no driver; USB COM and OEM modes are available for direct integration.
- The Wide Angle optics are tuned for close presentation: a 13 mil EAN-13 reads at 3.5–37 cm and a 10 mil Data Matrix at 4–20 cm.
- IP54 and a disinfectant-resistant housing suit public-facing machines.
What Will Not Work
- It is not a handheld or counter scanner — there is no trigger handle, stand or desktop housing.
- It is not cordless and has no battery; it needs a powered USB host.
- It is not the RS-232 or RJ-45 version — those are different part numbers.
