Dell Mouse WM118 — Wireless Optical Mouse, Black
2.4 GHz nano receiver1000 DPI optical1x AA, up to 1.5 years59 g, plug and play
The Dell WM118 is the plain, dependable wireless mouse that gets bought by the box for offices — a three-button optical design running at 1000 DPI over 2.4 GHz radio, with a nano USB receiver that stays in the port and an AA cell Dell rates for up to a year and a half. There is no software to install, no charging cradle, no pairing procedure: the receiver goes in a USB-A port and the mouse works. At 59 g and 105 mm long it is a compact, right-and-left-handed symmetric shape rather than a contoured ergonomic one, which is part of why it suits shared desks and hot-desking where nobody owns the hardware.
Compatibility — check before buying:
This mouse connects only through the supplied 2.4 GHz USB-A nano receiver. There is no Bluetooth, so it will not pair with a tablet, a machine that has no free USB-A port, or a laptop you want to use receiver-free. If Bluetooth matters, Dell’s MS3320W is the model that adds it. The DPI is fixed at 1000 with no adjustment, which is fine for office work on a standard screen but low for a 4K monitor where you will be lifting and repositioning the mouse more often. There is no software, no button remapping and no scroll-wheel tilt. The AA battery is supplied and replaceable, not rechargeable — there is no charging port on the mouse at all.
Best For
✓ Office desks and shared workstations
✓ Hot-desking and meeting-room machines
✓ Bulk IT deployments and replacements
✓ Home offices wanting no software and no charging
✓ Left-handed users, thanks to the symmetric shape
✓ Spare mice kept in the IT cupboard
Key Features
Plug it in and it works
A nano USB receiver, pre-paired at the factory, and an AA cell already fitted. There is no software to install, no driver, no pairing sequence and no account to sign into — which is exactly what you want when deploying fifty of them or handing one to a visitor.
Battery you replace once every eighteen months
Dell publishes up to 1.5 years from one AA cell. No charging cable, no cradle, no downtime while it charges, and no sealed battery that ends the mouse’s useful life after a few hundred cycles.
Symmetric shape, 59 g
A compact ambidextrous body at 104.9 x 58.4 x 38.9 mm and 59 g. That suits shared desks where the next person might be left-handed, and it is light enough to travel in a laptop bag without being noticed.
A 3-year manufacturer term on a basic mouse
Dell publishes a 3-year limited warranty on the WM118 — unusually long for a device in this class, where one or two years is the norm. For a fleet purchase that is a real difference in replacement cost over the life of the estate.

Singular Expert Insight
There is not much to say about a mouse like this and that is precisely its appeal — it does one job, needs nothing installed, and Dell backs it for three years, which is longer than most manufacturers offer on hardware at this level. Buy it for offices, shared desks and fleet replacements where the requirement is that it works and keeps working. Two things will decide whether it is right for a specific desk. There is no Bluetooth, so it needs a free USB-A port, and on a laptop estate that is increasingly the question to ask first. And the DPI is fixed at 1000, which is fine at 1080p and 1440p but slow across a 4K screen or a dual-monitor desk — if your users have large or high-resolution displays, Dell’s MS3320W adds both Bluetooth and DPI up to 4000 for a modest step up. Tell us the machines and the screens and we will suggest which fits. Our PC monitors range covers the screens, and docking stations the ports if USB-A is running short.
