Dell Pro 5 Webcam 2K — WB526 with Windows Hello
2K QHD 2560 x 1440AI auto-framing and face trackingPrivacy shutter and lock loopWindows Hello with anti-spoofing
The Dell Pro 5 Webcam 2K is the sensible middle of Dell’s webcam range: a Sony sensor behind a multi-element f/2.0 lens shooting 2560 x 1440, which is a large step up from the 720p or 1080p camera built into most laptops and monitors, without paying for 4K. Autofocus, HDR with smart exposure and automatic white balance handle typical office lighting, and AI auto-framing keeps you centred when you move. Windows Hello face recognition with anti-spoofing signs you in without a password, an integrated privacy shutter physically covers the lens, and a metal Kensington lock loop with a security chain is supplied — which matters on a hot desk or in a shared meeting room.
Compatibility — check before buying:
It connects over USB-C and Dell supplies a 1.5 m cable with a USB-A converter, so either port type works. Windows 11 64-bit and macOS 14 or later are the supported operating systems. One thing that surprises people: the microphone has to be enabled in Dell Display and Peripheral Manager before it will work, and the AI auto-framing, face tracking and field-of-view settings live there too — the software is a free Windows download, so on a Mac or a locked-down estate you get the camera at its defaults. Dell’s own documents disagree on two figures: the shop page states 60 fps at 2K while the user guide states 30 fps at 2K, and the microphone pick-up range is given as 2 m in the guide and 3 m on the shop page. We publish the user-guide figures as the conservative ones. The magnetic mount clips to monitors up to 46 mm thick and there is a tripod thread, but no tripod is supplied.
Best For
✓ Everyday video calls at a much better quality than a laptop camera
✓ Hot desks and shared meeting rooms needing a lock loop
✓ Windows Hello sign-in without a password
✓ Home offices upgrading from a built-in webcam
✓ Desks where a monitor has no camera of its own
✓ Volume deployments wanting Teams and Zoom certification
Key Features
2K instead of 1080p
2560 x 1440 gives noticeably more detail than the 1080p most webcams and all laptop cameras deliver, and it holds up when the far end is viewing you on a large meeting-room display rather than in a small tile.
Framing that follows you
AI auto-framing and face tracking keep you centred as you move, and the field of view narrows from 78 to 65 degrees to crop the room out of the call. Smart exposure with HDR, scene detection and automatic white balance handle backlit windows and mixed office lighting.
Physical privacy and physical security
An integrated sliding shutter covers the lens rather than relying on a software indicator, and Dell supplies a metal Kensington lock loop with a security chain — the feature the more expensive WB726 does not have.
Sign in by looking at it
Windows Hello face recognition with anti-spoofing, so a shared or hot-desk machine unlocks without typing a password. Certified for Microsoft Teams and Zoom, and supported on Google Meet, WebEx, GoToMeeting, Adobe Connect, Amazon Chime, Lark and Tencent.

Singular Expert Insight
The WB526 is the one to buy for most desks. Two thousand five hundred and sixty by fourteen hundred and forty is a large jump from a laptop camera and is more than enough for everyday calls, and the money saved against the 4K model buys a lot of desks. In one respect it is actually the better product: it has the Kensington lock loop and chain, which the more expensive WB726 does not, and on hot desks and in shared meeting rooms that is the difference between a camera that stays and one that walks. Two things to do at deployment. Enable the microphone in Dell’s software — it does not work until you do, and that single step generates most of the support calls this camera ever produces. And note that Dell’s own pages and its user guide disagree on the 2K frame rate and the microphone range; we publish the conservative user-guide figures rather than the more flattering ones. If video quality is the point of the purchase rather than a means to it, the WB726 with 4K at 60 fps and dual beamforming microphones is the step up. Our PC monitors range covers the screens these clip onto, and office headsets if you want audio handled separately.
