Dell Pro 7 Webcam 4K — WB726 with Sony STARVIS Sensor

4K UHD at 60 fpsSony STARVIS CMOS sensorDual beamforming microphonesWindows Hello with anti-spoofing

The Dell Pro 7 Webcam 4K is the top of Dell’s webcam range and the one to buy when the picture actually matters — a large Sony STARVIS CMOS sensor behind an f/2.0 lens, shooting 3840 x 2160 at up to 60 frames per second with hyper-speed autofocus and Smart HDR. The field of view adjusts between 90, 78 and 65 degrees, which is the difference between showing your whole room and showing just you. Two beamforming microphones with a 3 metre pick-up range mean a separate headset is optional rather than essential, and Windows Hello face recognition with anti-spoofing handles sign-in. It connects over USB-C on a 2 metre cable, with a USB-A adapter supplied for older machines.

Compatibility — check before buying:
The camera connects over USB-C and Dell supplies both a 2 m USB-C to USB-C cable and a USB-A converter, so it works on either port type. Windows 11 64-bit and macOS 14 or later are the operating systems Dell supports. The AI features — auto-framing, face tracking, Smart HDR and the field-of-view settings — are configured in Dell Display and Peripheral Manager, which is a free Windows download; without it the camera works but stays on its defaults. The magnetic universal mount clips onto monitors up to 4.6 cm thick and there is a tripod thread underneath, but no tripod is supplied. Two figures where Dell’s own documents disagree: the shop specification table gives a 90-degree field of view while the user guide lists 65, 78 and 90 as selectable settings, and the digital zoom is stated as 4x in the specification table and 5x in the user guide. We publish the specification-table figures.

Best For

✓ Executive and boardroom video calls
✓ Recording and streaming where 4K matters
✓ Home offices replacing a laptop’s built-in camera
✓ Hot desks needing Windows Hello sign-in
✓ Rooms with difficult or uneven lighting
✓ Interviews and remote presentations

Key Features

4K at 60 frames per second
A large Sony STARVIS CMOS sensor with an f/2.0 lens, recording 3840 x 2160 at 30 or 60 fps and Full HD or HD at the same rates, encoded as MJPEG. Sixty frames per second at 4K is what separates this from the 2K model and from almost every laptop camera.

Three fields of view
90, 78 or 65 degrees, selected in software. Ninety degrees takes in a whole meeting room; 65 crops to a single person and quietly removes the rest of the room from the call, which in a home office is often the more useful setting.

Dual beamforming microphones
Two microphones with view-based beamforming and a 3 metre pick-up range, with AI noise reduction. Dell publishes no decibel figure, but two microphones with beamforming is what allows the camera to favour the person in frame over the room behind them.

Privacy and sign-in built in
An integrated sliding privacy shutter physically covers the lens, and Windows Hello face recognition with anti-spoofing signs you in without a password. Certified for Microsoft Teams and Zoom, and supported on Google Meet, WebEx, GoToMeeting, Amazon Chime and others.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is the WB726 different from the WB526?
Meaningfully, in several places. The WB726 shoots 4K at up to 60 fps against the WB526’s 2K; it has a 90-degree field-of-view option where the WB526 tops out at 78; it has two beamforming microphones with a 3 m range against the WB526’s single omni-directional mic; its zoom is 4x against 2x; and its cable is 2 m against 1.5 m. The WB526 adds a Kensington lock loop and security chain, which the WB726 does not have.
Do I need to install software?
Not to use the camera — it works as a plug-and-play USB device out of the box. Dell Display and Peripheral Manager, a free Windows download, is what unlocks the field-of-view settings, AI auto-framing, face tracking and the HDR and exposure controls. On a locked-down corporate estate, check that it can be deployed before you rely on those features.
Will it work on a Mac?
Dell supports macOS 14 or higher, and the camera connects over standard USB-C. The AI features are configured through Dell Display and Peripheral Manager, which is a Windows application, so on a Mac you get the camera at its defaults rather than the full feature set. If Mac is the primary platform, factor that in.
Can I mount it on a tripod instead of the monitor?
Yes. There is a tripod thread on the underside of the camera, and the magnetic monitor clip detaches. Dell does not supply a tripod, so add one if that is how you want to position it — useful when the camera needs to sit beside a large display rather than on top of it.
Singular Expert Insight
Buy the Pro 7 when the video quality is doing real work — client calls, recorded content, a boardroom where the far end is on a large screen. The combination that justifies it over the 2K model is the Sony STARVIS sensor with 60 fps at 4K and the two beamforming microphones: motion stays smooth rather than smearing, and the room noise behind you is suppressed without a headset. The 65-degree field of view is the underrated setting in a home office, cropping the room out of the call entirely. Two practical points. The AI features live in Dell’s Windows software, so on a Mac or a locked-down estate you get a very good camera at its defaults rather than the full feature set. And Dell’s own documents disagree on field of view and digital zoom — we publish the specification-table figures rather than pick the more flattering ones. If sign-in convenience and a lock slot matter more than 4K, the WB526 is the model with the Kensington loop. Our PC monitors range covers the screens these clip onto, and office headsets if you would rather keep audio separate.
