DICOTA Backpack SEVEN 12-14 — 18 L, 1.21 kg, RFID and Tracker Slot
12" to 14" · 18 L77.22% Recycled PETRFID Pocket + Tracker SlotLockable Zips with Ring Lock
The DICOTA Backpack SEVEN 12-14 is an 18 litre backpack for laptops from 12 to 14 inches, weighing 1.21 kg and measuring 300 x 410 x 175 mm. SEVEN is DICOTA’s newest top-tier range, built on four things: protection, security, ergonomics and recycled content. The laptop sits in a compartment using DICOTA Cushion Technology with stable EVA panels around it. Security covers a hidden tracker slot, an RFID-secure pocket, lockable zippers with a ring lock that takes a standard suitcase padlock, and a metal D-ring for a notebook lock. Both outer and inner materials are 1680D recycled PET polyester, made from 45 recycled PET bottles, with DICOTA publishing an RPET ratio of 77.22%. The back panel is breathable and ergonomically padded, there is a side pocket for an umbrella or bottle, a trolley strap, and an additional compartment on the back for documents and a wallet.
Compatibility — check before buying:
Check the size range. DICOTA publishes this as 12.0 to 14.0 inch, with a maximum device size of 245 x 350 x 25 mm. Our previous listing rendered the name as “SEVEN Notebook Backpack 12- Black 14”, which is a truncation: the 14 is the top of the range, not the model size. Note the 25 mm depth allowance, which is tight — measure a thick machine against it.
Do not confuse this with the larger SEVEN backpack. DICOTA sells the Backpack SEVEN 14-16 with a word-for-word identical feature list at 24 litres and 1.35 kg. This one is 18 litres. Copying the wrong capacity between the two is the single most likely error on this pair, and it appears in listings regularly.
There is no dedicated tablet compartment. DICOTA’s own wording is that the main compartment takes “tablet, documents and folders” — one space, not a separate padded pocket. At least one distributor lists a discrete tablet compartment for this range; DICOTA does not publish one.
On the recycled figure, note its scope. The 77.22% RPET ratio is a textile-level figure covering outer and inner materials. Metal fittings, EVA panels, zips and foam are not included, so it is not a 77.22% recycled product. No article-level bluesign, GRS, OEKO-TEX, PETA-Approved Vegan or Blue Angel certification is published.
Water: DICOTA publishes a waterproof bottom only. There is no whole-bag water resistance claim, no rating and no rain cover.

✓ Daily carry of a 12 to 14 inch ultrabook in a compact 18 litre pack
✓ Commuters who want RFID protection and a tracker slot without paying for a travel-specific bag

✓ Corporate purchasers — the metal logo plate is interchangeable for branding
Key Features
DCT with EVA panels
DICOTA Cushion Technology positions and cushions the laptop, and stable EVA panels give the bag structure so the machine is protected from being crushed rather than merely padded. DICOTA describes the combination as unique all-round protection, and it is the defining feature of the SEVEN range.
Four security features, not one
A hidden tracker slot for a Bluetooth tracker. An RFID-secure pocket for contactless cards and passports. Lockable zippers with a ring lock — the ring eye takes a standard suitcase padlock. And an innovative metal D-ring for a cable-style notebook lock. Most backpacks offer none of these; SEVEN fits all four as standard.
Recycled inside and out, at 77.22%
Both outer and inner materials are 1680D recycled PET polyester, made from 45 recycled PET bottles. Recycling the lining as well as the shell is what pushes the published ratio to 77.22% — ranges that only recycle the outer typically land in the thirties.
An additional compartment on the back
A separate compartment on the rear panel for documents and a wallet — the side that faces you when the bag is worn, and therefore the side an opportunist cannot reach. A simple idea that most packs at this size omit.
Comfortable, and expandable if you need it
Breathable, ergonomic back padding and an unobtrusive wide carrying handle. There are loops for DICOTA’s optional hip belt, article D32157-RPET, if you want to take weight off your shoulders — the belt is a separate purchase.
Everyday details done properly
A side pocket for an umbrella or a bottle. A small additional pocket in the main compartment for sunglasses or headphones. A trolley strap for sliding the pack onto rolling luggage. A waterproof bottom for wet pavements. And an interchangeable metal logo plate for companies that want their own branding.

Frequently Asked Questions
What size laptop fits?
12 to 14 inches, with a published maximum device size of 245 x 350 x 25 mm. The 25 mm depth is the figure to watch — measure a thick machine against it. Listings showing this as a “12” bag or a “14” bag have truncated DICOTA’s published range.
How is it different from the SEVEN 14-16?
Size only. This is 12 to 14 inch at 18 litres and 1.21 kg. The 14-16 is 24 litres and 1.35 kg. DICOTA publishes an identical feature list for both, so the capacity is the thing most often copied across wrongly.
Is there a tablet compartment?
Not a dedicated one. DICOTA states the main compartment takes tablet, documents and folders — a single space rather than a separate padded pocket. Some distributor listings claim a discrete tablet compartment; DICOTA does not publish one.
Can I lock it?
Yes. DICOTA publishes lockable zippers with a ring lock, meaning the zip pull has a ring eye that takes a standard suitcase padlock. There is also a metal D-ring for a cable-style notebook lock. Note this applies to the 14-16 model too — it is not a feature unique to one size.
Is it 77% recycled?
The textile is. DICOTA publishes an RPET ratio of 77.22% covering outer and inner materials, from 45 recycled PET bottles. Metal fittings, EVA panels, zips and foam are not covered, so it is not a 77.22% recycled product and we do not describe it as one.
Is it waterproof?
No. DICOTA publishes a waterproof bottom, which protects against setting the bag down on a wet surface. There is no whole-bag claim, no rating and no rain cover.
Does it come with a hip belt?
No. There are loops for one, and DICOTA sells a compatible hip belt as article D32157-RPET, but it is a separate purchase.
Singular Expert Insight
SEVEN is where DICOTA has put its current thinking, and the clearest way to see it is the security specification. A hidden tracker slot, an RFID-secure pocket, lockable zips with a ring lock and a metal D-ring is four independent anti-theft features on an 18 litre backpack. Most packs at this size offer none of them; a good one might offer a concealed pocket. The tracker slot in particular reflects the fact that people now expect to find a lost bag rather than mourn it.
The protection is the other half. DICOTA Cushion Technology handles the cushioning, and stable EVA panels give the bag a structure so that pressure on the outside is resisted rather than passed to the machine. On a 14 inch ultrabook, which is thin enough to flex, that structural approach is worth more than another centimetre of foam.
The recycled arithmetic is honest and unusually good. Both outer and inner materials are recycled PET, which is why the published ratio is 77.22% rather than the low thirties you get when only the shell is recycled and the lining quietly is not. Forty-five bottles per bag. DICOTA is also clear that this is a textile figure — zips, buckles, EVA and foam are not fabric — and we have kept that distinction rather than rounding it into a whole-product claim.
Choose carefully between this and the 14-16. They are the same bag in two sizes with a word-for-word identical feature list, and the only differences that matter are capacity and fit: 18 litres and 245 x 350 x 25 mm here, 24 litres and 300 x 420 x 30 mm there. Because the descriptions are identical, listings across the trade routinely attach the wrong volume to the wrong size. If you carry a 14 inch machine and nothing else, 18 litres is right and the smaller pack will look better on your back. If you carry a 15 or 16 inch machine, or you want room for a change of clothes, take the larger one.
Two things it does not have. There is no dedicated tablet compartment — DICOTA puts the tablet in the main compartment with documents and says so plainly, and at least one distributor has invented a separate one. And the waterproof claim covers the bottom only; there is no rating and no rain cover. Neither is a fault at this size and price, but both are worth knowing before you buy.
The lifetime warranty applies. DICOTA warrants bags and backpacks for a lifetime against material and workmanship defects, capped at 30 years in Germany for legal reasons, with the shorter 24-month term reserved for wheeled bags. This is not a wheeled bag.
Buyer’s Guide
Buy it if
Buy the Backpack SEVEN 12-14 if you carry a 12 to 14 inch laptop daily and want security features that most backpacks skip — a tracker slot, RFID protection and zips that take a padlock. Check your machine against 245 x 350 x 25 mm, particularly the depth. If it is 15 inches or larger, take the SEVEN 14-16 at 24 litres instead.
Skip it if
Your laptop is 15 inches or larger, or exceeds 245 x 350 x 25 mm — the Backpack SEVEN 14-16 is the one you want, at 24 litres. Also skip it if you need a separate padded tablet compartment, a waterproof bag rather than a waterproof bottom, or a hip belt included rather than sold separately.
Also consider
The Backpack SEVEN 14-16 is the same design at 24 litres for 14 to 16 inch machines. The range also includes the Top Traveller SEVEN toploaders in 12-14 and 14-16, a Slim Case and a wheeled Top Traveller Roller. DICOTA’s optional hip belt, article D32157-RPET, attaches to the loops on this backpack and is sold separately. Browse the full range of laptop cases and bags, or see our laptops.
