DICOTA Backpack SEVEN 14-16 — 24 L, 1.35 kg, RFID and Tracker Slot
14" to 16" · 24 L78.85% Recycled PETRFID Pocket + Tracker SlotLockable Zips with Ring Lock
The DICOTA Backpack SEVEN 14-16 is a 24 litre backpack for laptops from 14 to 16 inches, weighing 1.35 kg and measuring 340 x 480 x 175 mm. SEVEN is DICOTA’s newest top-tier range, built around protection, security, ergonomics and recycled content. The laptop compartment uses DICOTA Cushion Technology with stable EVA panels for all-round rigidity. Security is unusually complete: a hidden tracker slot, an RFID-secure pocket, lockable zippers with a ring lock that takes a standard suitcase padlock, and a metal D-ring for a notebook lock. Both outer and inner materials are 1680D recycled PET polyester, made from 55 recycled PET bottles, with DICOTA publishing an RPET ratio of 78.85%. The back panel is breathable and ergonomically padded, there is a side pocket for an umbrella or bottle, a trolley strap, and an additional compartment on the back for documents and a wallet.
Compatibility — check before buying:
Check the size range. DICOTA publishes this as 14.0 to 16.0 inch, with a maximum device size of 300 x 420 x 30 mm. Our previous listing rendered the name as “Backpack SEVEN 14- Black 16”, which is a truncation of 14-16 with a stray inch figure appended.
Do not confuse this with the smaller SEVEN backpack. DICOTA sells the Backpack SEVEN 12-14 with a word-for-word identical feature list at 18 litres and 1.21 kg. This one is 24 litres and 1.35 kg. Copying the wrong capacity between the two is the most likely error on this pair.
The lockable zip is not a differentiator between the two sizes. Our previous listing highlighted “lockable zipper” on this model as though it were unique to it. DICOTA publishes lockable zippers with a ring lock on both SEVEN backpacks. It is a range feature, not a reason to choose this size over the other.
There is no dedicated tablet compartment. DICOTA’s wording is that the main compartment takes “tablet, documents and folders” — one space, not a separate padded pocket. At least one distributor lists a discrete tablet compartment for this article; DICOTA does not publish one.
On the recycled figure, note its scope. The 78.85% RPET ratio is a textile-level figure covering outer and inner materials. Metal fittings, EVA panels, zips and foam are not included. No article-level bluesign, GRS, OEKO-TEX, PETA-Approved Vegan or Blue Angel certification is published. DICOTA publishes a waterproof bottom only — there is no whole-bag water claim, no rating and no rain cover.
Best For
✓ Daily carry of a 14 to 16 inch laptop with room for a charger, documents and a change of clothes
✓ Commuters who want RFID protection and a tracker slot as standard rather than as an upgrade
✓ Anyone who leaves a bag in an office, a gym or a café — the zips take a standard padlock
✓ Buyers who want recycled content in the lining as well as the shell, at a published 78.85%
✓ Corporate purchasers — the metal logo plate is interchangeable for branding
Key Features
DCT with EVA panels
DICOTA Cushion Technology positions and cushions the laptop, and stable EVA panels give the bag structure so pressure is resisted rather than transmitted. DICOTA calls the combination unique all-round protection, and it is what defines the SEVEN range against cheaper packs that rely on foam alone.
Four security features, not one
A hidden tracker slot for a Bluetooth tracker. An RFID-secure pocket for contactless cards and passports. Lockable zippers with a ring lock — the zip pull has a ring eye that takes a standard suitcase padlock. And a metal D-ring for a cable-style notebook lock. Four independent anti-theft features on a business backpack is genuinely uncommon.
Recycled inside and out, at 78.85%
Both outer and inner materials are 1680D recycled PET polyester, made from 55 recycled PET bottles. Recycling the lining as well as the shell is what pushes the published ratio to 78.85%; ranges that recycle only the outer typically land in the thirties.
An additional compartment on the back
A separate compartment on the rear panel for documents and a wallet — the side that faces you when the bag is worn, so an opportunist cannot reach it. Simple, and omitted by most packs at this size.
Comfortable, and expandable if you need it
Breathable, ergonomic back padding and an unobtrusive wide carrying handle. Loops for DICOTA’s optional hip belt, article D32157-RPET, let you take weight off your shoulders on longer days — the belt is a separate purchase.
Everyday details done properly
A side pocket for an umbrella or a bottle. A small additional pocket in the main compartment for sunglasses or headphones. A trolley strap for rolling luggage. A waterproof bottom for wet pavements. And an interchangeable metal logo plate for companies wanting their own branding.

Frequently Asked Questions
What size laptop fits?
14 to 16 inches, with a published maximum device size of 300 x 420 x 30 mm. Measure a thick machine against the 30 mm depth. Listings showing this as a “14” or “16” bag have truncated DICOTA’s published range.
How is it different from the SEVEN 12-14?
Size only. This is 14 to 16 inch at 24 litres and 1.35 kg. The 12-14 is 18 litres and 1.21 kg. DICOTA publishes an identical feature list for both, which is exactly why the volumes get swapped in listings.
Is the lockable zip unique to this model?
No, and our previous listing implied it was. DICOTA publishes lockable zippers with a ring lock on both SEVEN backpacks. It is a range feature. The ring eye on the zip pull takes a standard suitcase padlock.
Is there a tablet compartment?
Not a dedicated one. DICOTA states the main compartment takes tablet, documents and folders — a single space rather than a separate padded pocket. Some distributor listings claim a discrete tablet compartment; DICOTA does not publish one.
Is it 79% recycled?
The textile is 78.85% RPET, covering outer and inner materials, from 55 recycled PET bottles. Metal fittings, EVA panels, zips and foam are not covered, so it is not a 78.85% recycled product and we do not describe it as one.
Is it waterproof?
No. DICOTA publishes a waterproof bottom, which protects against setting the bag down on a wet surface. There is no whole-bag claim, no rating and no rain cover.
Does it come with a hip belt?
No. There are loops for one, and DICOTA sells a compatible hip belt as article D32157-RPET, but it is a separate purchase.
Singular Expert Insight
This is the larger of DICOTA’s two SEVEN backpacks, and the more useful one for most people, because 14 to 16 inches covers the bulk of business laptops now in circulation. Twenty-four litres is a genuine daily-carry volume — laptop, charger, documents, lunch and a shirt — rather than the 18 litres of its smaller sibling, which is really a laptop-and-charger bag.
The specification that separates SEVEN from cheaper packs is security, and it is worth listing because it is unusual: a hidden tracker slot, an RFID-secure pocket, lockable zippers with a ring lock, and a metal D-ring for a notebook lock. Four independent features. Most business backpacks offer none of them; a good one might offer a concealed pocket. The ring lock in particular is practical rather than theatrical — the zip pull has an eye you can thread a standard suitcase padlock through, which is enough to deter the opportunist who is the realistic threat in a café or an airport lounge.
Protection is structural. DICOTA Cushion Technology handles the laptop, and stable EVA panels give the bag a shape that resists crushing rather than passing pressure through to the machine. On a 16 inch laptop, which has a large unsupported panel, that matters more than another layer of foam.
The recycled arithmetic is the best in DICOTA’s range and honestly presented. Outer and inner materials are both recycled PET, which is why the ratio reaches 78.85% from 55 bottles, rather than the low thirties you get when only the shell is recycled. DICOTA is explicit that this is a textile figure and not a whole-product one, and we have kept that distinction rather than rounding it into something more flattering.
Two corrections to what has been said about this bag before, including on our own listing. Its name is Backpack SEVEN 14-16, not “SEVEN 14- Black 16” — a truncation that has propagated widely. And the lockable zipper is not a feature unique to this size; the 12-14 has it too. If you are choosing between them, choose on capacity: 24 litres against 18, and 300 x 420 x 30 mm against 245 x 350 x 25 mm.
What it does not have is a dedicated tablet compartment — DICOTA houses the tablet in the main compartment with documents and says so plainly, though at least one distributor has invented a separate one. And the waterproof claim covers the bottom only. Neither is a fault; both are worth knowing. The lifetime warranty against material and workmanship defects, capped at 30 years in Germany, applies here in full.
Buyer’s Guide
Buy it if
Buy the Backpack SEVEN 14-16 if you carry a 14 to 16 inch laptop daily and want structural protection plus four genuine security features. Check your machine against 300 x 420 x 30 mm. If you carry a 13 or 14 inch machine and nothing much else, the SEVEN 12-14 gives you identical features in a smaller, lighter pack.
Skip it if
Your laptop is 13 inches or smaller and 24 litres is more bag than you need — the SEVEN 12-14 is 18 litres and 140 g lighter with identical features. Also skip it if you need a separate padded tablet compartment, a waterproof bag rather than a waterproof bottom, or a hip belt included rather than sold separately.
Also consider
The Backpack SEVEN 12-14 is the same design at 18 litres for smaller machines. The range also includes the Top Traveller SEVEN toploaders in 12-14 and 14-16 if you prefer a shoulder bag, a Slim Case, and a wheeled Top Traveller Roller — note that DICOTA’s wheeled bags carry a 24-month warranty rather than the lifetime term. DICOTA’s optional hip belt, article D32157-RPET, attaches to the loops on this backpack. Browse the full range of laptop cases and bags, or see our laptops.
