The DIGITUS DS-72220-7GE is a 1U rack-mount LCD KVM console that combines a 17-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 at 60 Hz) screen, a German keyboard, a touchpad and a built-in 16-port HDMI KVM switch, so one drawer in a 19-inch cabinet can operate up to 16 servers or PCs. It is aimed at server rooms, data cabinets and control rooms where a separate monitor, keyboard and mouse per machine would waste rack space.

Part number DS-72220-7GE ships as a modular kit: the console, the 16-port HDMI KVM switch, 16 HDMI + USB connection cables, the power supply and the mounting material are all in the box. The whole console slides completely out of the cabinet, the screen tilts up to 120 degrees and a safety lock protects it when stowed; further switches can be cascaded when more than 16 machines need to be reached.

Compatibility note: This is the HDMI version: each server needs an HDMI video output and a free USB port for keyboard and mouse. Servers that only offer VGA (typical of older or headless rack servers) need the VGA version instead. The keyboard uses the German QWERTZ layout, and the console is rated for indoor use only.
