DIGITUS DA-70236 — Slim Line 4-Port USB 3.0 Hub, 1.2 m Cable

1.2 m cable4 x USB-A at 5 GbpsUSB-C adapter included42 g

The DIGITUS DA-70236 is a four-port USB 3.0 hub whose distinguishing feature is its reach: a fixed 1.2 metre cable, where almost every slim hub in this class gives you 15 to 30 cm. That is the difference between a hub that has to sit against the laptop and one that can live on the desk while the computer is on the floor. It adds four USB-A ports at up to 5 Gbps in a 105 x 30 x 10 mm body weighing 42 g, and a USB-A to USB-C adapter is supplied so it also works on USB-C machines.

Compatibility — check before buying:
Check the article number, not the name. DIGITUS sells the DA-70235 under the identical product name “USB 3.0 Hub 4-Port, Slim Line”, with the same body, the same colour and the same box contents — the only difference is a 0.2 m cable instead of 1.2 m. If the long cable is why you are buying this, order DA-70236 by number. The host plug is USB-A; USB-C machines are covered by the adapter in the box rather than a native connector. The hub is bus-powered with no external supply and no charging input, so keyboards, mice, dongles, flash drives, card readers and one bus-powered SSD are the right load; two spinning hard drives are not. No video output, no Ethernet.

Best For

✓ Desktop towers on the floor, with the hub up on the desk
✓ Monitors on arms, where the ports need to reach the front
✓ Desks that mix USB-A desktops and USB-C laptops
✓ Keyboards, mice, wireless receivers and dongles
✓ Flash drives and card readers
✓ One bus-powered external SSD at full 5 Gbps

Key Features

A metre and a bit of cable
1.2 m fixed. Most slim hubs give you a pigtail and assume the hub sits against the machine; this one reaches from a tower under a desk to the desktop without an extension.

Four ports at 5 Gbps
Super-speed 5 Gbps, high-speed 480 Mbps and full-speed 12 Mbps all supported, downwards compatible with USB 2.0 and 1.1 devices. The bandwidth is shared across the four ports.

USB-C adapter supplied
A USB-A to USB-C adapter is in the box, so the same hub serves an older desktop and a modern laptop without a second purchase.

Slim and light
105 x 30 x 10 mm and 42.3 g. Despite the long cable the hub itself is one of the thinner four-port units, and it still travels.

Coverage terms vary by region. Singular’s direct warranty is 1 year; beyond that we assist you with the manufacturer’s warranty process for its full duration.

Frequently Asked Questions

DIGITUS lists another hub with the same name — which is this?
This is DA-70236, the one with the 1.2 m cable. DA-70235 is the same product with a 0.2 m cable and nothing else different: same name, same body, same box contents. Order by article number, because the listings are otherwise identical.
Does the USB-C adapter make it a USB-C hub?
It makes it usable on a USB-C machine, but the hub’s own plug is USB-A. The adapter is a small separate piece that can be lost, which is fine for a hub that moves between machines and less good for one that lives permanently on a USB-C-only laptop.
Can I run an external hard drive from it?
A bus-powered 2.5-inch drive or a USB SSD works and shares the host port’s 5 Gbps and current with anything else connected. There is no power socket on this model, so two drives spinning together is more than the host will reliably supply.
Is 1.2 m too long for USB 3.0?
No. USB 3.0 is specified well beyond this length, and DIGITUS builds the cable into the product. What you should not do is add a further extension on top of it — that is where 5 Gbps links start dropping out.
Singular Expert Insight
Cable length is the most under-considered spec on a hub and the one people complain about afterwards. Almost every slim four-port hub ships with 15 to 30 cm, which forces it to hang off the side of the machine; this one gives you 1.2 m and quietly solves a problem you would otherwise fix with a second purchase. The trap is that DIGITUS sells the short version under the same name, so the article number is the only safe way to order. Otherwise it is a straightforward 5 Gbps hub for flash drives, receivers and one external SSD — a screen or a network socket means a docking station.

Buyer’s Guide

Buy it if

You need four USB-A ports at 5 Gbps and the hub has to sit somewhere other than right beside the computer — a desk above a tower, or the front of a deep desk.

Skip it if

Skip it if a short cable suits you better (order DA-70235 and save the bulk), if several drives must run at once, or if you need video or Ethernet.

Also consider

DIGITUS DA-70235 for the identical hub with a 0.2 m cable, or a self-powered hub with its own adapter for multiple external drives.
