The DIGITUS DA-70220 is a four-port USB 2.0 desk hub that arrives complete: the 5 V / 2 A power supply and a 66 cm connection cable are both in the box, which is unusual at this level and is the whole reason to choose it. The 70 x 40 x 14.5 mm body has a piano-black finish on the top and bottom with an aluminium edge, and both the cable and the power lead detach.
Compatibility — check before buying:
This is USB 2.0 at 480 Mbps, roughly ten times slower than a 5 Gbps hub. It is the right tool for keyboards, mice, barcode scanners, keypads, dongles, card readers and charging small devices; it is the wrong tool for external drives, where a large copy runs into hours. The host socket on the hub is USB Mini-B and the supplied lead is USB-A to Mini-5P, 66 cm — if that cable is lost the replacement is a Mini-B cable, which is not the connector most people have spare. The plug at the computer end is USB-A. There is no video output and no Ethernet, and the hub does not charge a laptop. DIGITUS lists Windows XP, Vista, 7 and 8 and macOS 10.x.
