The DIGITUS DA-70222 is a compact desktop hub that adds seven USB 2.0 ports and ships with everything needed to use them: a 5 V / 3.5 A power supply and a 66 cm connection cable. At 85 x 44 mm with a piano-black finish and an aluminium edge it is built to sit on a desk rather than behind one, and at 290 g it stays put when seven cables tug at it. Plug and play on Windows and macOS, with no driver to install.
Compatibility — check before buying:
The upstream socket on the hub is USB Mini-B, not the Micro-B or USB-C you may expect — the supplied 66 cm USB-A to Mini-B cable is a specific part, so keep it with the hub. Every port is USB 2.0 at up to 480 Mbps, shared across all seven: a flash drive or external SSD will mount and work, but at a small fraction of its rated speed. The host plug is USB-A, so a laptop with only USB-C needs an adapter you supply. Two figures differ between DIGITUS’ own datasheet and shop listing — 0.29 kg and 0.31 kg for the weight — but nothing that changes the purchase.

Where it belongs is the peripheral end of our USB hub range: keyboards, mice, receivers, dongles, printers and scanners together never approach 480 Mbps, so the USB 2.0 limitation costs nothing and keeps the price down. Where it does not belong is storage — copying to and from USB flash drives at 480 Mbps shared is the difference between seconds and minutes, and that is what the 5 Gbps models are for. The one practical thing to remember is the Mini-B upstream socket: the supplied 66 cm cable is a specific part and worth keeping with the hub rather than in a drawer.

You need seven ports on a desk for peripherals and you want the power supply and cable included. Your computer has a USB-A port. You want a small, weighted hub that sits on the desk rather than hanging off it.

You are connecting external drives or fast flash drives — USB 2.0 shared across seven ports is the wrong hub. Your laptop only has USB-C. You want individual per-port switches or a longer host cable.
