The DIGITUS DA-70242-1 plugs into one USB-C port and gives back four full-size USB-A sockets at 5 Gbps, plus a fifth USB-C socket whose only job is power: connect your own USB-C charger there and the hub keeps the notebook topped up while it works. All four USB-A ports support BC 1.2 fast charging, so a phone or tablet on the hub charges at a proper rate rather than trickling. The housing is anodised aluminium, 110 mm long and 65 g, with a 20 cm captive cable.
Compatibility — check before buying:
The fifth socket is a USB-C charging port, not a data port — a drive or dongle plugged in there will do nothing. This is a four-port hub, not five. No charger is included: the Power Delivery feature only works if you already own a USB-C power adapter, and DIGITUS does not publish the wattage the port can pass through, so if charging a specific notebook is the point, tell us the model and the wattage of its charger and we will check it. The host end is USB-C only — there is no USB-A adapter in the box. Do not confuse it with the DA-70245, which is a 10 Gbps hub with two USB-A and two USB-C data ports and no PD at all.

The trade is speed: these are 5 Gbps USB-A ports, and if raw throughput matters more than charging, the DIGITUS DA-70245 in the same USB hub range does 10 Gbps with two USB-A and two USB-C, but no PD whatsoever. What this hub is not is a dock — there is no Ethernet, no HDMI and no card reader, so if you want one cable to carry a monitor and a network as well, look at our docking stations. Your notebook has USB-C, charges over USB-C, and you refuse to give that port up to a hub. You need four full-size USB-A sockets at 5 Gbps and you already own a USB-C charger. You want an aluminium 65 g bar rather than a plastic block.

You expected five data ports — the USB-C socket carries power only. You need 10 Gbps, Ethernet, HDMI or a card reader. You do not own a USB-C charger, or you need a published wattage figure before committing, because DIGITUS does not print one.
