DIGITUS DA-70250-1 — wired network and three USB ports from one USB-A socket
Gigabit Ethernet3 x USB-A at 5 GbpsBus-powered32 g aluminium
The DIGITUS DA-70250-1 gives an ultrabook or a thin laptop back the two things it usually lacks: a wired network socket and full-size USB ports. One USB-A plug on a 20 cm lead becomes a 10/100/1000 Mbps RJ-45 port and three USB 3.0 Type-A sockets, all running from the host’s own power with no adapter to carry. Inside it uses a VL813 hub controller with a Realtek RTL8153 Gigabit chipset, and the driver installs itself when you plug it in.
Compatibility — check before buying:
The host plug is USB-A — a laptop with only USB-C needs an adapter you supply, or the DIGITUS DA-70255, which is the same unit with a USB-C plug. Everything is bus-powered with no power input at all: it cannot charge the notebook and it is not the hub for bus-powered hard drives, because Gigabit Ethernet at full rate and three USB devices all draw from the same host port. The Ethernet port shares the single 5 Gbps USB link with the three USB ports, so a large network transfer and a fast drive copy will compete. DIGITUS does not publish a per-port current figure.
Best For
✓ Ultrabooks with no Ethernet socket
✓ Offices and sites that require a cable, not Wi-Fi
✓ Installers and engineers configuring equipment
✓ Meeting rooms with a wall socket and no reliable Wi-Fi
✓ Travel kits where 32 g matters
✓ Anyone who needs USB-A back as well as a network port
Key Features
A real Gigabit port, not Fast Ethernet
The RJ-45 socket runs 10, 100 and 1000 Mbps — a proper Gigabit connection rather than the 100 Mbps port that still turns up on cheap adapters, and the difference shows on any large file copy.
Three USB 3.0 ports as well
Beyond the network socket you get three full-size USB-A ports at up to 5 Gbps, so this single dongle replaces both the Ethernet adapter and the hub you would otherwise carry.
Nothing to install, nothing to power
DIGITUS states the driver installs automatically when the device is inserted, and there is no power supply to pack — 32 g of aluminium on a 20 cm lead is the whole product.

Singular Expert Insight
The point of the DA-70250-1 is that it removes two dongles from the bag and replaces them with one. Where it fits in our USB hub range is at the light end: 32 g, bus-powered, no adapter, three ports and a Gigabit socket — a travel and installer tool rather than a desk fixture. If the devices need to stay awake with the laptop away, or you are connecting drives, a mains-powered hub is the honest answer, because a bus-powered unit can only hand out what one host port gives it. Two ordering notes worth more than any spec line: the plug here is USB-A and the near-identical DA-70255 is the USB-C version, and neither can charge the notebook. If the wired connection is the whole point, our networking range covers the switches and cabling at the other end of the RJ-45.
Buyer’s Guide
Buy it if
Your laptop has no Ethernet socket and you need a reliable wired connection. You also want full-size USB ports back and would rather carry one dongle than two. Your machine has a USB-A port and you want no drivers and no power supply.
Skip it if
Your laptop only has USB-C — take the DA-70255 instead. You want the adapter to charge the notebook: there is no power input. You plan to run bus-powered hard drives, or you need the Ethernet transfer to be unaffected by what the USB ports are doing.
Also consider
DIGITUS DA-70255 if your host port is USB-C. A mains-powered hub if drives are involved and must stay powered. A USB-C dock if you also want video and charging over the same cable.
