DIGITUS DA-70473 VGA to HDMI Converter with Audio

Gives an older VGA-only PC or laptop a digital HDMI output, with sound, for today's TVs and monitors.
VGA → HDMI1080p 60 Hz3.5 mm audio inUSB powered
The DIGITUS DA-70473 is an active VGA to HDMI converter that turns the analogue VGA signal from an older desktop, laptop or industrial PC into a digital HDMI signal at up to 1920 × 1080 (60 Hz). Part number DA-70473 plugs into the VGA port via a 15 cm cable, accepts stereo audio through a 3.5 mm jack and embeds it into the HDMI output, and is powered over USB with the included USB-A to Micro-USB cable.
Compatibility Note: This converter works in one direction only: VGA source → HDMI display. VGA carries no sound, so connect the 3.5 mm audio input if you want audio on the TV, and plug the USB power cable into a USB port or 5 V adapter.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use the DA-70473 to connect an HDMI laptop to a VGA projector?
No. It converts VGA to HDMI only. For an HDMI source and a VGA projector you need an HDMI to VGA converter, such as the Techly IDATA-HDMI-VGA2A.
Do I need the USB cable?
Yes. The DA-70473 contains an active analogue-to-digital converter chip, so it must be powered from a USB port on the PC, the TV or a 5 V USB adapter.
Singular Expert Insight
The DA-70473 is a practical way to keep a VGA-only PC, point-of-sale terminal or older laptop in service with a modern HDMI screen, including sound. Picture quality is limited by the analogue VGA source, so do not expect it to look as sharp as a native digital output.
✓ Buy it if you need to connect a VGA-only computer to an HDMI TV or monitor with audio.
✕ Skip it if your source already has HDMI or DisplayPort — a direct digital cable gives a better picture.
→ Also consider Manhattan 152426 (VGA + USB audio to HDMI) if the PC has no 3.5 mm audio output.
