The DIGITUS DN-81210 is a hot-pluggable copper SFP+ module that turns an SFP+ slot into an RJ-45 port running 10GBASE-T, 5GBASE-T, 2.5GBASE-T or 1000BASE-T. On Cat6A cable it reaches 30 m at 10 Gbps, 50 m at 2.5 or 5 Gbps and 100 m at 1 Gbps. It suits connecting 10G servers, multi-gig NAS units or access points to a switch that only has SFP+ cages. In practice, a copper module is the quickest way to connect a nearby device that only has an RJ-45 port, without buying a media converter. Stay within the reach shown in the table and use fibre for anything further away.
Compatibility — check before buying:
The reach depends on the speed: the 100 m figure applies only at 1 Gbps; at 10 Gbps it is 30 m. DIGITUS publishes no host compatibility list and no power figure; copper SFP+ modules run warm, and some switches refuse them, cannot power them or accept only 1G/10G and not 2.5G/5G.
