DIGITUS DS-12855 — USB-C 3.0 HDMI KVM Switch, 2-Port, 4K/60Hz
2 computers · 1 display4K/60Hz HDMIUSB 3.0 · 3 × A + 1 × CWired remote
The DIGITUS DS-12855 is a 2-port KVM switch from the Core Line series that lets two computers share one HDMI monitor, a keyboard, a mouse and up to four USB 3.0 devices. It is aimed at home offices and desks where a work laptop and a private PC — or a PC and a Mac mini — sit side by side and you want to switch between them with one press.
Each computer connects with an HDMI cable for video and a USB-C cable for USB data. On the output side there is one HDMI port for a 4K/60Hz display (with HDR and 3D), three USB-A 3.0 and one USB-C 3.0 port at up to 5 Gbps, plus a 3.5 mm audio output. Switching is done with the button on the aluminium housing or the wired remote with a magnetic base.
Before you order: Video runs over HDMI only: each computer needs an HDMI output (or a USB-C-to-HDMI adapter). The USB-C inputs carry USB data, not video, and do not charge the computer. No HDMI cables are included.
What's in the Box
- 1 × DIGITUS USB-C 3.0 HDMI KVM switch, 2-port (DS-12855)
- 2 × USB-A to USB-C 3.0 data cables (1.5 m)
- 1 × USB-A to USB-C power cable (1 m)
- 1 × wired remote with magnetic base (1.5 m)
- 1 × quick start guide
- No HDMI cables and no power adapter
What It Means in Practice
- Two HDMI cables are needed — one from each computer to the switch — plus one to the monitor.
- The shared USB 3.0 ports also switch, so a webcam, headset or USB drive follows the active computer.
- The switch is powered over USB-C (5 V). For SSDs or power-hungry USB devices DIGITUS recommends an optional 5 V / 2 A adapter, sold separately.
- Audio formats up to LPCM, DTS, Dolby Digital and TrueHD pass via HDMI; the 3.5 mm output serves speakers or headphones.
What Will Not Work
- It drives only one monitor — for two monitors per computer, choose the DIGITUS DS-12856 Dual HDMI version.
- It does not accept DisplayPort or USB-C video directly.
- It does not charge laptops (no Power Delivery).
- It is not a docking station: there is no Ethernet port and no card reader.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does it work with a MacBook?
Yes, if you connect video via HDMI (built-in port or a USB-C-to-HDMI adapter) and USB via the supplied USB-C cable. DIGITUS does not publish an OS list; tell us the model and we will check.
Why is it sometimes listed as a docking station?
Distributor listings sometimes call it that, but DIGITUS specifies it as a KVM switch. It shares peripherals between two computers; it does not add Ethernet or charge a laptop.
Do I need the optional power adapter?
Only for USB devices that draw a lot of power, such as external SSDs or hard drives. Keyboard, mouse and webcam run on USB power.
