DIGITUS DS-53400 — VGA UTP Extender Set
Up to 300 m1920 x 1200 / 60 HzCat 5eStereo audio
The DIGITUS DS-53400 is a VGA over UTP extender set consisting of a transmitter and receiver for carrying analogue VGA video over long distances using Cat 5e cabling. It supports transmission distances of up to 300 metres, resolutions up to 1920 x 1200 at 60 Hz and extension of stereo audio alongside the video signal.
Compatibility — check before buying:
The DS-53400 extends analogue VGA video and stereo audio; it is not an HDMI, DisplayPort, DVI or network-video extender. The Cat 5e cable provides the transmission path between the dedicated transmitter and receiver units and does not make the product an Ethernet or PoE device.
Best For
✓ Long-distance VGA installations
✓ Projectors and remote displays
✓ Conference and training rooms
✓ Existing Cat 5e structured cabling
✓ VGA installations requiring stereo audio
✓ Legacy AV systems with VGA connectivity
Key Features
VGA extension up to 300 metres
The transmitter and receiver extend a VGA source over a Cat 5e cable for distances up to 300 m, allowing the display to be positioned far beyond practical direct VGA cable lengths.
Up to 1920 x 1200 resolution
DIGITUS specifies video resolutions up to 1920 x 1200 pixels at 60 Hz for compatible VGA sources and displays.
Stereo audio extension
Along with VGA video, the set supports stereo audio transmission so sound can be delivered to the remote display location through the same extender installation.
Complete transmitter and receiver set
Both ends of the extender system are supplied together, with separate 5 V / 1 A power adapters for the transmitter and receiver.

Singular Expert Insight
The DS-53400 is designed for legacy VGA installations where distance is the main problem. Instead of running a long, bulky VGA cable, the transmitter and receiver use Cat 5e cabling for runs up to 300 m and can carry stereo audio as well. Its key limitation is equally clear: this is an analogue VGA extender, not a digital HDMI solution or an IP extender, so it is most appropriate when the source and display already use VGA.
Buyer’s Guide
Buy it if
You need to extend VGA video and stereo audio over Cat 5e for a long run of up to 300 m between a source and display.
Skip it if
Your source or display requires HDMI, DisplayPort, digital 4K video, Ethernet-based AV distribution or PoE operation.
Check first
Confirm that both endpoints use VGA and that a suitable direct Cat 5e cable path is available between the transmitter and receiver.
