Digitus 4K HDBaseT HDMI KVM Extender Set — screen, keyboard, mouse and IR over one cable
HDBaseT 1.0HDMI + USB KVM1080p · 70 m · 4K/30Hz · 40 mIR + Power over Cable
The Digitus DS-55512 is a 4K HDBaseT HDMI KVM extender set that carries HDMI, a USB keyboard and mouse and bidirectional IR over one Cat5e or better cable — Full HD up to 70 m, 4K/30Hz up to 40 m — so a PC can be operated from a desk or console in another room.
It suits control rooms, industrial workstations, kiosks and lecture halls where the computer has to stay in a rack or a protected room. HDBaseT makes the link robust and Power over Cable means one 12V adapter powers both units.
Before you order: Point-to-point HDBaseT link: one continuous Cat cable between the units, no network switch. 4K is limited to 30Hz and 40 m; for 70 m use Full HD.

- Operating instructions
What It Means in Practice
- The PC stays in the rack; the operator gets screen, keyboard and mouse up to 70 m away.
- 4K/30Hz works up to 40 m — enough for most desk distances inside one building.
- A single 12V adapter with a screw-lock connector powers the whole set.
- IR works in both directions, useful for controlling a source or a display from the other end.
- Mounting plates let you fix both units to a desk, wall or rack shelf.
What Will Not Work
- It does not work through a network switch — HDBaseT is a direct link.
- It does not deliver 4K/60Hz.
- The USB channel is USB 1.1 for keyboard and mouse — not for storage, cameras or audio devices.
- It does not split the picture to several screens.
- It is not compatible with HDMI-over-IP receivers.

Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
HDBaseT is the dependable choice for KVM extension inside a building: one cable, one adapter, and IR in both directions. The DS-55512 is right when the remote user must actually work on the PC, not just watch it. Plan 4K/30Hz up to 40 m and Full HD up to 70 m, and use solid-copper cable from our Cat6 network cables range for the fixed run.
✓ Buy it if you need to operate a PC with keyboard and mouse up to 70 m away over one Cat cable, with IR control.
✕ Skip it if you need 4K/60Hz, USB storage, or one source on several screens.
→ Also consider a 4K/60Hz HDMI extender if no keyboard/mouse is needed; a KVM over IP receiver for multi-user setups.
