DIGITUS 1U Fiber Splice Box — 24x SC duplex, OM4, pre-assembled
19" · 1U sliding24x SC duplexOM4 MultimodePre-assembled with pigtails
The DIGITUS DN-96322-4 is a 19-inch, 1U fiber optic splice box that arrives equipped with 24 SC duplex couplers, OM4 multimode (50/125 µm) colour-coded pigtails and a splice cassette, so the only job left on site is to fusion-splice your incoming installation cable to the pigtails. It is aimed at installers and IT teams terminating a 48-fibre OM4 cable in a network or server cabinet.
The tray slides forward out of the housing, which gives you room to splice, store fibre overlength in the cassette and re-patch later without dismantling the rack. The carrier housing is 1.0 mm sheet steel, powder-coated light grey (RAL 7035), with M20/M25 cable glands and strain relief for the incoming cable.
Before you order: This box is OM4 multimode with UPC polish. Your trunk cable and every patch cord must match: multimode cannot be spliced or patched to single-mode, and UPC couplers must not be mated with APC (green, angled) connectors.
What's in the Box
- 1x 19" 1U fiber optic splice box, sliding, light grey RAL 7035
- Equipped: 24x SC duplex couplers (ceramic sleeve) on the front panel
- Colour-coded OM4 pigtails, already routed and inserted into the splice cassette
- Splice cassette with cassette cover
- M20/M25 cable glands and strain relief for the incoming cable
What It Means in Practice
- Capacity is 24 duplex ports = 48 fibres. Size it to the fibre count of the cable you are bringing in, plus any spares you want to land.
- Typical use: short-reach, high-bandwidth links inside a data centre or building backbone, where OM4 gives more headroom than OM3 at 10G and above.
- You need a fusion splicer, splice protection sleeves and a cleaver on site — or an installer who has them. The box itself is passive and needs no power.
- Front-side patching uses standard SC duplex patch cords in OM4; order them separately in the lengths you need.
- Sliding tray: pull the box forward for splicing and service, push it back to close — no need to remove it from the rack.
What Will Not Work
- It will not terminate a single-mode (OS2) cable — fibre type must match end to end.
- APC (green, angled) patch cords will not mate with these UPC couplers.
- No patch cords, installation cable, splice sleeves or tools are included.
- It does not fit 10-inch racks or wall boxes — it needs a 19-inch rack with at least 240 mm usable depth behind the mounting rails.
- It is not a pre-terminated plug-and-play panel: without splicing, the pigtails are not connected to anything.
Key Features
Ready to splice
Pigtails are already fitted to the couplers and laid into the cassette, which cuts installation time and removes connector polishing from the job.
Sliding 1U chassis
The tray pulls forward for splicing and re-work while the box stays mounted in the cabinet.
Cable entry with strain relief
M20/M25 glands and strain relief hold the incoming cable so the splices are not loaded.
Steel housing
1.0 mm sheet steel, powder-coated light grey RAL 7035, with ceramic-sleeve couplers in polymer housings.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a fusion splicer?
Yes. The pigtails are pre-fitted, but your incoming cable has to be fusion-spliced to them inside the cassette. The box does not include tools or splice sleeves.
Can I use it for single-mode?
No. Couplers and pigtails are OM4. For single-mode choose the DIGITUS variant of this box made for that fibre class.
How many fibres can I land?
48 fibres on 24 duplex SC ports. For a higher fibre count, use the 12- or 24-port version or a second box.
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
Pre-assembled splice boxes save the most time on jobs with a single trunk cable per rack: splice once, patch from the front. Mount it next to the switch it feeds and keep patch-cord runs short. Planning the active side as well? Browse our
network switches with fiber uplinks, or rack shelves and cable managers in
rack accessories.
✓ Buy it if you are terminating a OM4 cable of up to 48 fibres in a 19-inch cabinet and can fusion-splice on site.
✕ Skip it if your cable is single-mode, or you want pre-terminated plug-and-play cabling without splicing.
→ Also consider a 6- or 12-port SC OM4 DIGITUS splice box if you are landing fewer fibres, or the LC version if your switches use LC SFP optics.
Not sure which fibre class or connector your cable uses? Send us the cable label or the switch/SFP model and we will check before you order.
