Digitus HDMI over IP PoE Extender Set — 4K/60Hz, point-to-point or one-to-many over your network
HDMI over IP4K/60HzPoE poweredUp to 253 receivers
The Digitus DS-55353 is an HDMI over IP extender set (transmitter + receiver) that sends 4K/60Hz HDMI over Cat6 — directly up to 200 m, or through a Gigabit network switch to as many as 253 receivers — for signage, classrooms, bars and control rooms that need one source on several screens.
Both units are powered by PoE, so a PoE switch feeds video and power over the same cable. You start with one screen and add receivers later on the same network, each up to 120 m from the switch. IR control travels along, so the source can be operated from a display location.
Before you order: Power comes from PoE: connect the units to a PoE switch, or buy a 5V/1A DC adapter per unit (optional, not included) for a direct cable without a switch. For multi-screen use the switch must be Gigabit; Digitus recommends a dedicated network or VLAN for video traffic.
What's in the Box
- 1 × transmitter (TX)
- 1 × receiver (RX)
- 2 × IR cable, 1.0 m
- Operating instructions
- Not included: power adapters (optional DC 5V/1A), network cables, HDMI cables, network switch
What It Means in Practice
- One source can feed many screens: add receivers to the same switch, up to 253 in total.
- With a PoE switch there is no power socket needed behind any screen.
- Direct point-to-point reaches 200 m; through a switch each segment can be up to 120 m.
- Video is H.265 compressed: latency is about 150–220 ms at 4K/60Hz and 80–130 ms at Full HD — fine for signage and presentations, not for gaming or live mixing with audio delay sensitivity.
- The housings are wall-mountable metal units that can sit behind a display.
What Will Not Work
- It will not power itself without PoE or the optional 5V/1A adapters (not in the box).
- It does not extend keyboard and mouse (no KVM).
- It is not suited to a busy office LAN without planning — multicast video needs a capable Gigabit switch, ideally a separate VLAN.
- It is not a zero-latency extender — fast gaming or lip-sync-critical live use is not its purpose.
- Powerline adapters or Wi-Fi bridges in the path are not a suitable network for it.
Key Features
Point-to-point or one-to-many
200 m directly between TX and RX, or 120 m per segment through a switch to up to 253 receivers, with cascading supported.
PoE powered
Both units take power over the network cable from a PoE switch — no adapters behind screens.
4K/60Hz with HDCP 2.2
HDMI 2.0 input up to 4096 × 2160 at 60Hz, 18 Gbps, HDCP 2.2/1.4, H.265 compression.
IR along the link
IR output at the transmitter and IR input at the receiver let you control the source from a screen location.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I connect the two units with a single cable and no switch?
Yes, up to 200 m. In that case there is no PoE, so each unit needs an optional DC 5V/1A adapter.
Which switch do I need for several screens?
A Gigabit switch that handles multicast (IGMP) and, for cable-only power, PoE on the ports used by the units. Tell us how many screens you plan and we will size it.
How do I add more screens later?
Add more Digitus HDMI IP receivers compatible with this set on the same network; up to 253 receivers are supported. Ask us for the matching receiver model.
Is the delay noticeable?
Around 150–220 ms at 4K/60Hz. For signage, menus and presentations it is not an issue; for gaming or live performance it is.
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
The DS-55353 turns any Gigabit network into a video distribution system: one set today, more receivers tomorrow, without new cabling plans. The success factor is the switch — it must be Gigabit, handle multicast properly and, ideally, supply PoE. Pick one from our
PoE network switches and keep the video on its own VLAN; that avoids most of the problems installers meet with HDMI over IP.
✓ Buy it if you want 4K/60Hz on one or many screens over Cat6 and a Gigabit PoE switch, with room to grow.
✕ Skip it if you need keyboard/mouse control, near-zero latency, or a simple one-cable link without any network equipment or adapters.
→ Also consider a point-to-point HDBaseT or Cat6 extender set for a single screen with low latency; an HDMI KVM over IP receiver when users must operate the source.
