DIGITUS DS-30222 — PCIe Card with 2 × USB-C and 3 × USB-A, USB 3.1 Gen 2
10 Gbps USB 3.1 Gen 22 × USB-C · 3 × USB-APCIe 2.0 x4Windows · Linux
The DIGITUS DS-30222 is a PCI Express expansion card that adds five USB 3.1 Gen 2 ports — two USB-C and three USB-A, each up to 10 Gbps — to a desktop PC. It is for users whose motherboard has too few or too slow USB ports, or no USB-C at all, and who connect fast external SSDs, capture devices or docks.
The card uses a PCIe 2.0 x4 interface and supplies up to 5 V / 3 A on each USB-C port and 5 V / 1 A on each USB-A port. It works with Windows 7 to 11 and Linux; DIGITUS describes it as plug and play and also supplies a driver CD (a driver download is available).
Before you order: The card needs a PCIe slot that physically accepts an x4 card (x4, x8 or x16). DIGITUS does not publish whether a low-profile bracket is included or whether an extra power connector is used — tell us your PC model if it is a small-form-factor case.
What's in the Box
- 1 × USB 3.1 Gen 2 PCI Express card (DS-30222)
- 1 × driver CD
- 1 × user manual
What It Means in Practice
- 10 Gbps per port is twice the speed of USB 3.0 — fast external NVMe SSDs reach their full Gen 2 speed.
- USB-C ports deliver up to 3 A at 5 V, enough for bus-powered drives and most accessories.
- Front-panel USB-C headers are not published, so the ports are on the rear bracket only.
- Install in an x4 or longer slot; in an x16 slot it works but uses only 4 lanes.
What Will Not Work
- The USB-C ports carry no video (DisplayPort Alt Mode) and no Power Delivery charging — they will not drive a monitor or charge a laptop.
- It will not fit a PCIe x1 slot.
- macOS is not listed as supported.
- It does not provide Thunderbolt.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will it work in a PCIe 3.0 or 4.0 slot?
Yes. PCIe is backward compatible; the card runs at PCIe 2.0 x4 in any newer x4/x8/x16 slot.
Do I need to install drivers?
On Windows 10/11 and current Linux it is normally recognised as a standard xHCI controller. A driver is supplied on CD and as a download for older systems.
Can I connect a USB-C monitor?
No. The USB-C ports are data and 5 V power only; video output is not supported.
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
For a desktop that lacks USB-C or 10 Gbps ports, this card is the most direct upgrade: five Gen 2 ports from one x4 slot. It pairs well with fast
external SSDs. Check slot availability first — many boards share x4 slots with M.2 drives.
✓ Buy it if your desktop has a free PCIe x4 (or larger) slot and you need fast USB-C and USB-A ports.
✕ Skip it if you need USB-C video, laptop charging, Thunderbolt or macOS support, or only have an x1 slot free.
→ Also consider DIGITUS DS-30225, a smaller PCIe card with USB-C and USB-A.
