The DIGITUS DN-81005 is a copper SFP module that turns an SFP slot into an RJ-45 Ethernet port, reaching up to 100 m on Cat5 or better cable. DIGITUS sells it as 10/100/1000Base-T with automatic MDI/MDI-X, and lists compatibility with switches from many brands, including Cisco, TP-Link, Ubiquiti, ZyXEL, D-Link and MikroTik. In practice, a copper module is the quickest way to connect a nearby device that only has an RJ-45 port, without buying a media converter. Use fibre for anything beyond the copper reach shown in the table.
Compatibility — check before buying:
DIGITUS names it 10/100/1000, but whether it links at 10 or 100 Mbps depends on the switch — many SFP slots only run 1 Gbps. If the far end is an older 10/100 device, send us the switch model first. It is a 1G module: it will not give 10G in an SFP+ port. DIGITUS states no vendor coding, so switches that lock out third-party optics may refuse it. Not sure?
