A compact, ready-equipped termination point for a 12-fibre multimode trunk

The DIGITUS Professional DN-96330-4 is a 19-inch 1U sliding fibre splice box equipped with 6 LC duplex couplers and 12 coloured OM4 pigtails, made for installers who need to terminate a small multimode trunk cleanly in a network rack or wall cabinet.
The factory has already done the patch side: the couplers sit in the front panel and the pigtails are exposed and laid into the splice cassette, which uses crimp splice holders. On site you strip the incoming cable, fusion-splice each fibre to its pigtail, seat the protected splices in the holders and close the drawer. The steel tray slides out to the front, so you can splice comfortably and come back to the cassette later without taking the box out of the rack. It is a good fit for links between a main rack and a single remote cabinet, a second building or a floor distributor, where 12 fibres give six duplex connections with spares for future switches or redundant uplinks. Couplers, pigtails and cassette come as one equipped unit, so you do not have to match parts from different suppliers.
Before you order: This box is OM4 multimode with LC/UPC couplers. It is spliced to a multimode trunk (OM4, or OM3 at OM3 performance). For single-mode OS2 cable order DN-96330/9; for angled APC connectors order DN-96330/9APC.
What's in the Box
- 1x 19" 1U sliding splice box, 6x LC/UPC duplex couplers fitted
- 12 coloured OM4 pigtails, prefabricated and laid into the splice cassette(s)
- Splice cassette(s) with crimp splice holders and cassette cover
- Strain relief for the incoming cable
- M20/M25 screw fitting
What It Means in Practice
- "LC x 12" in the product name means 12 fibres, which is 6 duplex ports. Each link uses two fibres, one transmit and one receive.
- A 12-fibre OM4 trunk fills the box exactly. If your trunk carries 24 or 48 fibres, this is the wrong size.
- The cassette uses crimp splice holders: plan splice protectors that suit crimp-type holders rather than assuming any heat-shrink sleeve will seat correctly.
- No field connectorisation: the factory pigtails give consistent connector quality, and your work is limited to the splices.
- The sliding drawer needs slack on the cables behind it so the tray can move without pulling on the splices.
- At 240 mm deep it suits shallow wall cabinets; leave space behind for the cable entry and bend radius.
- Front patching uses standard LC duplex OM4 or OM3 patch cords to multimode SFP or SFP+ transceivers.
- Record which trunk fibre colour lands on which front port as you splice. With only six ports the panel is quick to label, and a correct record saves time when a link has to be traced later.
- Because the box takes a full rack unit for six ports, it makes most sense where the trunk is small. In a rack that will grow, reserve the unit next to it for a second box rather than splicing a larger trunk across two half-filled panels.
What Will Not Work
- Single-mode (OS2) trunks: splicing single-mode fibre to OM4 pigtails gives a failed link. Order DN-96330/9.
- APC (green, angled) patch cords: the couplers are LC/UPC.
- SC patch cords: the front panel is LC duplex only.
- More than 12 fibres: there is no room to add couplers. Use DN-96331-4 (24 fibres) or DN-96332-4 (48 fibres).
- Splicing without a fusion splicer: tools, trunk cable and rack mounting screws are not in the list of included parts.
Key Features
Factory-equipped
Six LC duplex couplers with zirconia ceramic ferrules and the matching OM4 pigtails are already installed, so the job list shrinks to the trunk cable and splice protectors, and every port behaves the same.
Crimp splice holders
The cassette is fitted with crimp-type splice holders that keep each protected splice in place and in order, which makes later tracing and repairs simpler. Holders and cassette come matched from the factory, so you only need to choose protectors of the matching crimp type.
Sliding drawer design
The tray pulls out to the front for splicing and maintenance. In wall cabinets and crowded racks that saves working from behind the equipment.
Steel housing
1.0 mm varnished sheet steel in light grey RAL 7035 protects the splices and matches most rack interiors. At 2.53 kg the box is light enough to fit alone, and the 240 mm depth leaves room behind it even in shallow wall cabinets.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is "LC x 12" 12 ports?
No. It is 12 fibres on 6 LC duplex ports. For 12 duplex ports choose the 24-fibre DN-96331-4.
Can I run 10G over it?
Yes, with multimode transceivers and an OM4 or OM3 channel end to end. Check the distance your transceiver specifies for the fibre grade.
How does the trunk enter?
From the rear, secured with the supplied strain relief and screw fitting, then routed to the cassette where each fibre is spliced to a pigtail.
Are splice protectors included?
They are not listed in the included parts, so bring protectors that suit crimp splice holders.
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
For small multimode runs, 12 fibres is the sweet spot: six duplex links leave room for a redundant uplink and a spare pair. Check the trunk label for OM3/OM4 versus OS2 before ordering, because the boxes look identical from the front. To finish the cabinet with patch cords, cable managers and blanking panels, see our
rack accessories.
✓ Buy it if Buy it if you are terminating a 12-fibre OM4 or OM3 multimode trunk in a 19" rack or wall cabinet and want the couplers and pigtails already fitted.
✕ Skip it if Skip it if your trunk is single-mode OS2 (DN-96330/9), needs APC (DN-96330/9APC) or carries 24 or 48 fibres (DN-96331-4 or DN-96332-4).
→ Also consider OM4 LC duplex patch cords in the lengths your rack needs, multimode SFP or SFP+ transceivers, splice protectors for crimp holders and a 1U cable manager.
