Terminate 48 multimode fibres in one rack unit, ready to splice
24x LC duplex48 fibres OM4Pigtails pre-installedSliding 1U drawer
The DIGITUS Professional DN-96332-4 is a 19-inch 1U sliding fibre splice box equipped with 24 LC duplex couplers and 48 coloured OM4 pigtails, built for installers terminating multimode trunk cables in a network rack.
Everything on the patch side is already done at the factory: the couplers are fitted in the front panel and the pigtails are exposed and laid into the splice cassette, so on site you only strip the incoming cable, fusion-splice each fibre to its pigtail and close the drawer. The steel drawer slides out to the front, which gives you room to work and lets you re-enter the cassette later without removing the box from the rack. Typical uses are building-to-building and floor-to-floor multimode backbones in offices, schools and small data rooms, where a 48-fibre OM4 trunk arrives in the main rack and has to be broken out into LC ports that the switches can patch to. Because the couplers, pigtails and cassette come from one manufacturer as a single equipped unit, you avoid the usual mismatch of cassette size, pigtail length and coupler type that slows down an installation.
Before you order: This box is OM4 multimode. It must be spliced to a multimode trunk (OM4, or OM3 if you accept OM3 performance on that link). Single-mode OS2 cable needs the OS2 version, DN-96332/9.
What's in the Box
- 1x 19" 1U sliding splice box, 24x LC/UPC duplex couplers fitted
- 48 coloured OM4 pigtails, prefabricated and laid into the splice cassette(s)
- Splice cassette(s) with cassette cover
- Strain relief for the incoming cable
- M20/M25 screw fitting
What It Means in Practice
- 48 fibres means 24 duplex links: two fibres per port, one transmit and one receive. A 24-fibre trunk fills only half the panel.
- No connector polishing or field termination: the factory pigtails give you consistent connector quality, and your work is limited to the splices.
- The front-sliding drawer lets you service the cassette in a populated rack, as long as the cables behind it have enough slack to move with it.
- At 240 mm deep it suits shallow wall cabinets as well as full-depth server racks; allow extra space behind for the cable entry and bend radius.
- Front patching uses standard LC duplex patch cords in OM4 (or OM3) to your switch SFP+ or SFP28 multimode transceivers.
- Label each port pair against the trunk fibre colours as you splice. The coloured pigtails make it easy to keep transmit and receive in the right order, and a correct record now saves hours when a link fails later.
- One box serves one trunk cleanly. If you expect to grow beyond 48 fibres, leave the rack unit above or below free for a second box rather than overfilling the cassette.
What Will Not Work
- Single-mode (OS2) trunks: splicing single-mode cable to these OM4 pigtails gives a broken link. Order DN-96332/9 instead.
- APC (green, angled) connectors: these couplers are LC/UPC. Do not mix APC patch cords into UPC ports.
- SC patch cords: the front panel is LC duplex only.
- Splicing without a fusion splicer: the box is a termination point, not a connector kit. Splicing tools and the trunk cable are not included.
- Rack mounting hardware: cage nuts and rack screws are not in the list of included parts.
Key Features
Factory-equipped, not empty
Many splice boxes ship as bare steel and leave you to source couplers and pigtails that match. This one already carries 24 LC duplex couplers with zirconia ceramic ferrules and the matching OM4 pigtails, so the parts list for the job shrinks to the trunk cable and splice protectors, and every port behaves the same.
Sliding drawer design
The tray pulls out to the front for splicing and later maintenance, so you do not have to unscrew the box or work from behind the rack. That matters most in wall cabinets and crowded racks where the rear is hard to reach once switches are installed.
Steel housing
The carrier housing is 1.0 mm varnished sheet steel in light grey RAL 7035, matching most rack interiors and protecting the splices from knocks.
Cable management included
Strain relief, cassette cover and an M20/M25 screw fitting are supplied so the incoming cable is secured and the spliced fibres are covered.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is "LC x 48" 48 ports?
No. It is 48 fibres on 24 LC duplex ports. If you need 48 duplex ports, plan two boxes.
Can I use it for 10G or 40G multimode links?
Yes, as long as the whole channel is OM4 or OM3 and your transceivers are multimode. Check the distance your transceiver specifies for OM4.
How do I connect the trunk cable?
The trunk enters from the rear, is fixed with the supplied strain relief and screw fitting, then each fibre is spliced to a pigtail inside the cassette. Keep the buffer tubes protected up to the cassette entry.
Do I need splice protectors?
Plan for them. The included parts list covers cassette, cover and strain relief; it does not list splice protection sleeves, so bring the type your splicer and cassette use.
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
Count fibres, not ports: a 48-fibre OM4 trunk lands exactly on this panel, while a 24-fibre trunk fits the 12-port DN-96331-4. Decide the fibre type before you order, because OM4 and OS2 boxes look identical from the front. For patch cords, cable managers and blanking panels to finish the rack, see our
rack accessories.
✓ Buy it if Buy it if you are terminating a 48-fibre OM4 or OM3 multimode trunk in a 19" rack and want the couplers and pigtails already fitted.
✕ Skip it if Skip it if your trunk is single-mode OS2 (order DN-96332/9), needs APC connectors (DN-96332/9APC), or carries only 12 or 24 fibres (DN-96330-4 or DN-96331-4).
