The DIGITUS DN-81005-01 is an HP-coded copper SFP module that turns an SFP slot into a Gigabit RJ-45 port, reaching up to 100 m on Cat 5 cable with Auto MDI/MDI-X. It is made for HP and HP Aruba switches with SFP uplink ports, so a fibre switch can connect a server, NAS or other device over twisted-pair cable. In practice, a copper module is the quickest way to connect a nearby device that only has an RJ-45 port, without buying a media converter. Use fibre for anything beyond the copper reach shown in the table.
Compatibility — check before buying:
It is a 1G SFP module, not 10GBASE-T: in an SFP+ port it still runs at 1 Gbps at most. DIGITUS names 10/100/1000 in the product title, but whether the lower speeds work depends on the switch.
