Wi-Fi 6 and multi-gig routing for a configured network
Wi-Fi6 AX30002.5GbE WAN / P116 VPN tunnels, regional specificationTwo external antennas
The DrayTek Vigor2136ax combines dual-band Wi-Fi6 AX3000 with a2.5GbE WAN, a configurable2.5GbE P1 LAN/WAN port and three Gigabit LAN interfaces. This DE/AT/CH retail model adds two USB2.0 ports, external antennas and business routing, firewall, VLAN and VPN controls for a small office or demanding home network.
Best For: Small offices and home networks needing integrated Wi-Fi6, multi-gig wired links and configurable remote-access or site-to-site VPN.
Before you order: This is V2136ax-DE-AT-CH, without a DSL modem, SFP slot or built-in cellular/SIM modem. Use a separate Ethernet modem/ONT or suitable Internet handoff. P1 second-WAN and advanced features require compatible regional firmware. The regional adapter plug should be checked for the installation. Security services, compatible mesh access points and some management services may need separate purchases or subscriptions.
What's in the Box
- Vigor2136ax router, regional power adapter, RJ45 Ethernet cable and Quick Start Guide.
- Two external Wi-Fi antennas. German regional package lists two wall screws, two anchors and a drilling template.
- Modem/ONT, USB peripherals and additional mesh access points are separate.
What It Means in Practice
- Connect the fixed2.5GbE WAN to a suitable Ethernet Internet source and configure ISP settings.
- Use P1 for2.5GbE LAN or a second WAN with supported regional firmware; the other three LAN ports are Gigabit.
- Use compatible Wi-Fi6 clients for160MHz operation; coverage and speed depend on clients, walls, interference and regional channel rules.
- Separate device groups using supported subnets, VLANs and SSIDs and configure firewall, QoS and routing policies.
- Choose supported VPN protocols and clients; review regional firmware before relying on a particular feature or tunnel limit.
What Will Not Work
- AX3000 combines theoretical link rates across two bands; it is not a3Gbps Internet or single-client throughput promise.
- No6GHz Wi-Fi6E band, DSL modem, SFP port or integrated4G/5G modem is specified for this exact model.
- Two2.5GbE plus three Gigabit interfaces do not mean all five ports are2.5GbE.
- Manufacturer NAT and IPsec figures are internal-test maxima; real throughput depends on configuration, traffic and enabled services.

Frequently Asked Questions
How is ax different from the wired model?
The ax model adds dual-band Wi-Fi6 AX3000 and external antennas. The wired base has no built-in Wi-Fi.
Does AX3000 mean3Gbps to one device?
No. It is the sum of theoretical band link rates. Real speed depends on the client and radio/network conditions.
Can it replace a DSL modem?
No DSL modem is built in. Connect a suitable modem, ONT or Ethernet Internet handoff.
Does it include4G or5G?
No cellular modem or SIM slot is specified. A supported external USB modem is a separate device.
Can P1 be a second WAN?
The regional table supports a configurable LAN/WAN role; verify compatible regional firmware before deployment.
Singular Expert Insight
Treat the radio and Internet connection as separate parts of the design. Wi-Fi6 can improve the local wireless link with compatible clients, but the ISP, ONT, port configuration and traffic still set practical limits. Confirm the DE/AT/CH firmware feature set and adapter plug before fitting it into the installation.
Buyer’s Guide
✓ Buy it if You need integrated Wi-Fi6 and configurable multi-gig Ethernet/VPN in one regional broadband router.
✕ Skip it if You need a direct DSL/SFP connection, built-in cellular service, Wi-Fi6E or a guaranteed3Gbps single-client link.
→ Also consider ISP handoff, regional firmware, adapter plug, Wi-Fi client capability, VPN requirements, optional subscriptions and mesh compatibility.
