The Eaton Protection Strip 4 DIN (PS4D) is a 4-way Schuko surge protection strip with an on/off switch, a built-in circuit breaker and an LED indicator, rated 10 A — for PCs, monitors, TVs and network equipment that you want to protect from mains spikes.

Eaton is one of the major UPS makers; this is its entry-level protector for equipment that does not need battery backup. The box includes Eaton's connected-equipment warranty sheet.

Before you order: this lead has a Schuko (Type F) plug. Cyprus wall sockets are UK BS 1363 (Type G), so you need a Schuko wall socket, a Schuko outlet on a UPS or PDU, or a fused UK-to-Schuko adapter. Through a 13 A fused adapter the whole strip is limited to about 2,990 W at 230 V, whatever the strip itself is rated for.

What It Means in Practice

  • The on/off switch with circuit breaker turns all 4 sockets off at once — handy for cutting the standby draw of a TV or PC setup overnight.
  • 10 A means about 2,300 W in total at 230 V — plenty for a PC, monitors and network gear, not for heaters.
  • The circuit breaker trips on overload, so a mistake cuts power instead of overheating the strip.
  • The LED shows that the protection is active.

What Will Not Work

  • UK (BS 1363) three-pin plugs — the sockets are Schuko (DIN, Type F) sockets. Devices with UK plugs need a strip with UK sockets.
  • Power-cut protection — it has no battery; for that you need a UPS.
  • Heaters, kettles and other high-power appliances — the strip is rated 10 A.
  • Outdoor, bathroom or damp-room use — it is rated IP20, dry indoor rooms only.
  • Plugging one strip into another (daisy-chaining) to get more sockets — the total load still runs through the first plug and cable.
