Multi-gigabit copper with a faster uplink
5× 2.5G RJ45 + 1× 10G SFP+4× PoE+ / shared 70 WFanless metal enclosureUnmanaged plug and play
The Eaton Tripp Lite series NG5POE-M2 is a compact unmanaged switch for a small multi-gigabit network. Five RJ45 ports support 100 Mbps, 1 Gbps and 2.5 Gbps, while a separate 10G SFP+ slot provides an uplink. Four copper ports can power compatible PoE+ devices within a shared 70 W budget. Its fanless metal enclosure suits quiet desktop installations.
Best For: Small offices, access points and compatible PoE cameras that need faster copper connections and a separate high-speed uplink without switch management.
Before you order: There are six data ports in total: five RJ45 plus one SFP+ slot. Only RJ45 ports 1–4 supply PoE+, up to 30 W per port within 70 W combined. The supplied external AC adapter powers the switch. SFP+ optics or a suitable DAC are separate; check compatibility and cabling. Supplied cords are NEMA and Schuko, so check the correct mains connection for a Cyprus installation.
What's in the Box
- NG5POE-M2 switch, external power adapter and rubber feet.
- 1.5 m NEMA 5-15P-to-C13 and Schuko-to-C13 power cords, plus documentation as listed in the manual.
- Optics, DAC, Ethernet cables and wall-mounting screws are not listed as supplied.
What It Means in Practice
- Use ports 1–4 for compatible PoE devices and budget their combined demand below 70 W; the budget alert threshold is 60 W.
- Use RJ45 port 5 for data without PoE output, or connect a compatible 10G SFP+ module or DAC for the uplink.
- Connect the supplied external power adapter. Do not plan to power this switch from an upstream PoE cable.
- Place it on the desktop with its feet or use the keyhole wall mounts with suitable separately supplied fixings. Keep ventilation clear.
What Will Not Work
- Unmanaged operation provides no configurable VLAN, routing or SNMP management.
- Four 30 W port limits do not provide 120 W simultaneously: the combined PoE budget is 70 W.
- The SFP+ slot and RJ45 port 5 do not supply PoE. Transceiver compatibility and cable distance depend on the selected components.
Key Features
Five multi-gigabit links
100 Mbps, 1 Gbps and 2.5 Gbps RJ45 connections support compatible copper devices.
Separate 10G uplink
A sixth data port is a 10G SFP+ slot for a suitable separately purchased module or DAC.
Practical PoE+ budget
Four PoE+ outputs provide up to 30 W each within the shared 70 W limit.
Quiet installation
Fanless metal construction supports desktop or keyhole wall installation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why is this a six-port switch?
It has five RJ45 data ports and one additional SFP+ data port.
Can all four PoE ports deliver 30 W at once?
No. Each port is limited to 30 W and all four share 70 W combined.
Can an upstream PoE cable power the switch?
Use the supplied external AC adapter. PoE input is not specified for this model.
Is a fibre module included?
No module is listed in the package. Select a compatible 10G SFP+ module or suitable DAC separately.
Does it need configuration?
It is unmanaged. Connect compatible devices and the power adapter; configurable switch-management functions are not provided.
Singular Expert Insight
Count powered devices and their worst-case demand before choosing a PoE switch. Four physical PoE sockets do not guarantee four simultaneous 30 W loads. Also plan the SFP+ connection as a separate component purchase and check the mains lead required at the installation.
Buyer’s Guide
✓ Buy it if You need five multi-gigabit copper links, up to four modest PoE+ loads and a separate 10G uplink in a quiet installation.
✕ Skip it if You require managed network controls, more than 70 W total PoE output or a switch powered by PoE input.
→ Also consider Device power budgets, compatible SFP+ components, copper cabling, ventilation and the local mains lead.
