Edimax EW-7822ULC — AC1200 Dual-Band MU-MIMO Nano USB Adapter

AC1200 · Wi-Fi 5MU-MIMOWPA3Plug and play

The Edimax EW-7822ULC is an AC1200 dual-band MU-MIMO nano USB adapter with two internal antennas (2T2R) and WPA3 support. It connects at up to 867 Mbps on 5 GHz and 300 Mbps on 2.4 GHz, with beamforming, and is plug-and-play on Windows. It has no Bluetooth. In practice it gives a desktop or laptop a working Wi-Fi connection through a free USB port, with no need to open the case — useful when the PC has no Wi-Fi, or its built-in Wi-Fi is too old or too weak for your router.

Compatibility — check before buying:
It is USB 2.0: the port tops out at 480 Mbps, so it cannot reach 867 Mbps in practice. For more real speed, Edimax makes the EW-7822UTC with USB 3.0. Mac support stops at macOS 10.15. Not sure it suits your PC or router? Send us the computer model and your router and we check it.

Best For

✓ Laptops with weak or failed Wi-Fi

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it have Bluetooth?
No. The EW-7822ULC is Wi-Fi only. If you also need Bluetooth, ask us for an adapter that combines both.
Will I get the full 867 Mbps on 5 GHz?
Not in daily use. 867 Mbps on 5 GHz is the maximum link rate Edimax quotes; real throughput depends on your router, the distance, walls and the USB port. On USB 2.0 the port itself limits throughput to well under 480 Mbps.
Which port does it need?
A standard USB-A port. It is a USB 2.0 device, so any USB-A port works, including USB 3.x ports. For a laptop with USB-C only, add a USB-C to USB-A adapter.
Which operating systems are supported?
Edimax lists Windows 7, 8, 8.1, 10 and 11, macOS 10.9 to 10.15 and Linux kernel 3.8 to 5.11.
