EPOS IMPACT 860 — Wired Stereo USB-C Headset with Beamforming Microphones
Optimised for unified communicationsThree digital MEMS microphonesSuper Wideband audioBusylight on the headset
The EPOS IMPACT 860 is a double-sided wired office headset that plugs into a USB-C port and stays powered by it, so there is no battery to watch. Three digital MEMS microphones form an adaptive beamforming array that follows your voice as you move, and EPOS publishes Super Wideband audio with a 20 Hz to 20 kHz speaker response, which is unusual on a corded headset at this level. Part number 1001176 is the standard build, optimised for unified communications but not carrying Microsoft Teams certification.
Compatibility — check before buying:
Two things decide whether this is the right article number. First, this model is not Microsoft Teams certified; if your organisation wants the Teams key and certified call control, 1001179 is the part to order. Second, and more important: 860 has no active noise cancellation. EPOS publishes ANC only on the 860 ANC (1001174) and 860T ANC (1001177), and the number 860 on its own does not imply it. The USB-C cable is fixed to the headset at 1.85 m and a USB-C to USB-A adapter is in the box, so both modern laptops and older desktops are covered. Tell us your platform and whether open-plan noise is a problem and we will point you at the right one of the four.
Best For
✓ Desk-based call work all day, with no battery to manage
✓ Offices that are busy rather than genuinely loud
✓ Mixed UC estates on Zoom, Meet, Cisco or Avaya
✓ Staff who want both ears covered
✓ Teams that need a visible busylight at the desk
✓ IT rollouts standardising on one corded model
Key Features
Three microphones that follow your voice
An adaptive beamforming array of three digital MEMS microphones, driven by EPOS AI, tracks your voice rather than pointing at a fixed spot. Published microphone bandwidth is 100 Hz to 16 kHz.
Super Wideband, not just call quality
EPOS publishes a 20 Hz to 20 kHz speaker response and Super Wideband support, so the headset handles music and media as well as it handles a conference bridge.
Controls on the headset, not on a cable pod
Volume runs on a multi-function slider, the boom arm mutes when you lift it, and a hook button answers and ends calls. There is no in-line control box to dangle.
A busylight colleagues can see
The busylight turns red while you are in a call, which is the cheapest way to stop someone walking up to your desk mid-sentence. The headset weighs 189 g with a 1.85 m fixed USB-C cable.

Singular Expert Insight
The EPOS IMPACT 800 series is laid out on two axes and it is easy to pick the wrong corner. One axis is Microsoft Teams certification, marked by the letter T. The other is active noise cancellation, marked by the words ANC. They are independent: 860 sits on the no-Teams, no-ANC side. If your people sit somewhere genuinely loud, the ANC articles are worth the difference; if the room is merely busy, the beamforming microphones do the work that matters and the money is better spent elsewhere. Compare the alternatives in Office & VoIP Headsets or the wider Headphones range.
Buyer’s Guide
Buy it if
You want a corded headset that is always ready and never needs charging. You want both ears covered and a busylight at the desk. You run a mixed UC estate and do not need Teams certification.
Skip it if
You need the office silenced for you — choose an ANC article instead. You need to walk away from the desk mid-call. You need a 3.5 mm or desk-phone connection.
Also consider
EPOS IMPACT 860T (1001179) for Microsoft Teams certification. EPOS IMPACT 860 ANC (1001174) if you need the room quietened for you. Poly Blackwire 8225 for wired stereo with three-level hybrid ANC.
