Epson WorkForce DS-410: a 50-sheet duplex workhorse for everyday office scanning
50-sheet ADF52 ipm duplexDouble-feed detectionZonal OCR
The Epson WorkForce DS-410 is an A4 desktop document scanner with a 50-sheet automatic document feeder that scans both sides at 26 pages (52 images) per minute, aimed at small and medium offices digitising invoices, HR files and correspondence at up to 3,000 pages a day. It suits offices that collect paperwork through the week and scan it in batches rather than page by page.
It connects to a computer over USB 2.0, measures 297 x 152 x 154 mm and weighs 2.5 kg. Double-feed detection and paper protection stop the scan when pages stick or crumple, and Epson Document Capture Pro adds barcode recognition and zonal OCR for automatic file naming and sorting. Epson Scan 2 handles image clean-up such as colour dropout, blank-page skip and de-skew, while Epson Device Admin helps IT staff manage settings. Drivers for TWAIN, WIA, ISIS, ICA and SANE connect it to most document management and accounting software already in use in Cyprus offices. Epson lists Mac OS up to 10.12 for the bundled software on this older model, so check with us before pairing it with a recent Mac; Windows 7 to 11 are supported.
Before you order: USB only: the DS-410 must be connected to a Windows or Mac computer and has no network or Wi-Fi. If several people need to scan, a network model such as the HP ScanJet Pro N4000 snw1 fits better. Allow some space behind and in front of the scanner for the input and output trays.

What It Means in Practice
- A 50-sheet feeder means a typical batch of invoices loads in one go instead of three or four rounds.
- 52 images per minute duplex captures a 50-page double-sided stack in about two minutes.
- Double-feed detection halts the scan if two sheets pass together, so pages are not missing from the archive.
- Barcode recognition and zonal OCR in Document Capture Pro can split a batch into separate files and name them automatically.
- Plastic cards and business cards are supported alongside A4, A5 and A6 documents.
What Will Not Work
- No network or Wi-Fi: scanning always goes through the connected computer.
- No flatbed: books, bound reports and very fragile originals cannot be scanned.
- Paper above 209 g/m² is outside the feeder's auto-loading range, so heavy card stock may not feed.
- A4 width maximum; A3 needs folding and stitching in software.
- Not a production scanner; the rated duty cycle is 3,000 pages a day.
Key Features
Document Capture Pro
Create one-touch jobs that scan, OCR, split by barcode or blank page and save to folders, email, FTP or SharePoint through the connected PC. Jobs can be started from the scanner button, so staff do not need to open the software each time. Rollers last longer when paper is fanned before loading.
Paper protection
Double-feed detection and paper protection technology stop the feed when something goes wrong, protecting both the document and the scan. Single-pass duplex captures both sides without turning the stack over.
Image clean-up
Colour dropout, blank-page skip, automatic de-skew and A3 stitching produce clean, readable files with less manual correction. This reduces rescans and keeps archives readable, especially with coloured forms or stamped invoices. Separation sheets with barcodes can be printed and placed between documents in one batch.
Driver support
TWAIN, WIA and ISIS on Windows, ICA on Mac and SANE on Linux connect it to most document management and accounting software. ISIS support matters for professional capture software used in larger organisations.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which consumables will I need?
The rollers wear with use; Epson offers a Roller Assembly Kit (B12B819381) for the DS-410, and a 5-pack Carrier Sheet (B12B813431) for fragile pages.
Can it split a batch into separate files?
Yes. Document Capture Pro can separate documents by blank page or barcode and name each file automatically, using zonal OCR if required.
How does it compare with the compact DS-C490?
The DS-410 holds 50 sheets instead of 20 but is larger and slower at 26 ppm; the DS-C490 is faster and smaller but needs reloading more often.
Is it suitable for invoices from suppliers in different sizes?
Yes. The feeder handles A4, A5, A6, B5, B6, Letter and Legal in the same session, and paper from 50 to 209 g/m². Small receipts down to 50.8 x 50.8 mm feed as well, though very thin thermal receipts are best placed in a carrier sheet. Mixed stacks are where the double-feed detection earns its place.
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
The DS-410 is a proven entry-level batch scanner: the 50-sheet feeder and Document Capture Pro automation matter more in daily use than raw speed. It is USB only, so plan it as one person's scanning station; archive the results on an
external SSD or file server so scans are not kept only on that PC. Replace the rollers on schedule rather than waiting for misfeeds.
✓ Buy it if Buy it for one workstation that scans daily batches of invoices or files and wants automatic splitting and naming.
✕ Skip it if Skip it if the scanner must be shared on the network or needs to handle heavy card stock.
→ Also consider Also consider the HP ScanJet Pro 3000 s4 for 40 ppm and a 50-sheet feeder, or the Epson DS-C490 for a smaller footprint.
