equip 337303 — 12-Port SC Duplex OM3 Fiber Optic Splice Box, 1U, Pre-Equipped
12 × SC DuplexOM3 multimode19″ 1U steelGrey (RAL 7035)
The equip 337303 is a 12-port fiber optic splice box for 19-inch racks: a 1U steel enclosure that arrives already equipped with SC duplex couplers, coloured OM3 multimode pigtails and a splice cassette on a sliding tray, so incoming trunk fibres can be fusion-spliced and terminated in one unit. It is built for installers and IT teams finishing a fibre backbone in a comms room, server rack or data centre. In practice you splice the trunk to the pigtails inside the tray, close the cassette, and patch from the front couplers to your switches with standard SC duplex patch cords. The enclosure measures 483 × 243 × 44 mm, comes in grey (RAL 7035) and ships with four sets of M6 screws and nuts for mounting.
Compatibility — check before buying:
Fibre type must match your trunk. This is the OM3 multimode version. A OM3 box does not work with an OS2 single-mode trunk or with single-mode LR optics. OM3 and OM4 can be mixed on one link, but the link then performs to the lower grade. Connector must match your patch cords: the front is SC duplex — if your switch side uses LC, you need SC-to-LC hybrid patch cords or the LC version of this box (337203). A fusion splicer is needed to terminate the trunk; the box is not a pre-terminated plug-and-play cassette. In the box: the equipped splice box (sliding tray, splice cassette with cover, pigtails, couplers) and 4 sets of M6 screws and nuts. Not in the box: the trunk cable, patch cords, splice protection sleeves and any tools — equip does not list sleeves among the contents, so plan to supply your own. equip does not state the exact pigtail count, so if your design depends on a specific number of fibres, tell us the trunk fibre count and we will confirm before you order.
Best For
✓ Terminating a OM3 multimode backbone in a 19-inch rack
✓ Comms rooms where a fusion-splice finish is preferred over field connectors
✓ Smaller links: a single building riser or a few uplinks
✓ Server rooms and data centres standardising on SC duplex patching
✓ Projects that need a matching light grey rack finish
✓ In-building backbone and data-centre multimode runs
Key Features
Pre-equipped, ready to splice
equip supplies the enclosure fully fitted: SC duplex couplers in the front, coloured OM3 pigtails behind them, and a splice cassette with cover on a sliding tray. You do not have to source and fit adapters and pigtails separately — you bring the trunk, splice it to the pigtails and close the cassette.
Sliding tray, front access
The splice tray slides forward out of the 1U housing, so you can splice, re-route or inspect fibres without dismantling the rack. The closed cassette then protects the splices.
SC duplex front panel
SC is the larger push-pull connector still common on media converters, older switches, carrier hand-off points and FTTx equipment. With 12 ports in a single rack unit, the panel keeps the patch field compact and neatly labelled next to your network gear.
Steel 1U housing
4 kg of steel enclosure at 483 × 243 × 44 mm, finished in Grey (RAL 7035). It mounts in any standard 19-inch rack with the supplied M6 hardware and needs roughly 25 cm of usable depth plus room at the rear for the incoming trunk to bend gently.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a fusion splicer to use it?
Yes. The 337303 is a splice box: the pigtails behind the front couplers are meant to be fusion-spliced to your incoming trunk fibres inside the cassette. If you do not have splicing equipment, plan for an installer who does, or ask us about pre-terminated alternatives.
Can I use it with OS2 single-mode fibre?
No. This version is equipped with OM3 multimode pigtails; an OS2 single-mode trunk and LR-type optics need the OS2 version (337301). The OM4 version is 337305.
What distance can the link cover?
OM3 is laser-optimised multimode: the IEEE 802.3 reach for 10GBASE-SR over OM3 is 300 m, and 70 m for 100GBASE-SR4 — enough for most in-building backbone runs. Actual reach depends on your transceivers, the number of connections and splice quality, so check your optics’ datasheet — the splice box itself is not the limiting factor.
What is the difference between 337303 and 337302?
Only the finish: 337303 is Grey (RAL 7035) and 337302 is Black (RAL 9005). Ports, fibre grade, splice tray and mounting hardware are the same, so pick the one that matches your rack.
Singular Expert Insight
Choose the splice box by three things, in this order: fibre grade (OM3 here), connector (SC duplex here) and port count (12 here). The 12-port model suits a single riser or a handful of uplinks; for denser links the 24-port version is
337313. If your switches use multimode (SR/SX-type) transceivers, finish the link with SC duplex patch cords from our
fiber optic range, and see
network switches for the active side. Tell us your trunk fibre count and switch model and we will check the full bill of materials before you order.
Buyer’s Guide
Buy it if
You are terminating an OM3 multimode trunk in a 19-inch rack, you can fusion-splice, and your patching is SC duplex.
Skip it if
Your trunk is OS2 single-mode, you want a pre-terminated plug-and-play solution with no splicing, or your equipment uses LC connectors.
