equip 128956 — 4-Port USB 3.0 Hub with a USB-C Adapter
4 x USB-A at 5 GbpsUSB-C adapter included11 mm thick, 44 g15 cm cable
The equip 128956 adds four USB-A ports at up to 5 Gbps to a computer with a spare USB-A socket, and includes a USB-C adapter in the box so the same hub also works on a USB-C laptop or tablet. The body is 90 mm long and only 11 mm thick at 44 g, on a short 15 cm cable.
Compatibility — check before buying:
The hub itself is USB-A. USB-C compatibility comes from the adapter supplied in the box, not from a native connector — fine when the hub moves between machines, less good when it lives permanently on a USB-C-only laptop and the adapter becomes another thing to lose. equip’s 128954 is the version with a native USB-C plug. The hub is bus-powered with no external supply and no charging input, so it cannot charge a laptop; keyboards, mice, dongles, flash drives, card readers and one bus-powered SSD are the right load, and two portable hard drives at once are not. There is no video output and no Ethernet.
Best For
✓ Desks that mix USB-A desktops and USB-C laptops
✓ One hub that has to follow a person between machines
✓ Keyboards, mice, wireless receivers and licence dongles
✓ Flash drives and card readers
✓ One bus-powered external SSD at full 5 Gbps
✓ Travel — 11 mm thick and 44 g
Key Features
Works on both connector types
A USB-A plug for desktops and older laptops, plus a USB-C adapter in the box for MacBooks, Chromebooks and tablets. One hub covers a mixed fleet without a second purchase.
Four ports at 5 Gbps
USB 3.2 Gen 1 SuperSpeed on all four sockets, backward compatible with USB 2.0 devices at their own rates. The bandwidth is shared across the four.
Genuinely slim
40 x 11 x 90 mm and 44 g. Eleven millimetres is thin enough to slide into a laptop sleeve alongside the machine rather than taking up space in the bag.
Nothing to install
Plug and play on Windows 7 through 11, macOS 10.6 or newer and ChromeOS. CE and RoHS marked, and no power adapter to carry.

Singular Expert Insight
The adapter in the box is the selling point, and it is worth being honest about what that means: an adapter is not the same as a native connector. It is excellent when one hub has to serve a desktop and a laptop, or when the hub lives in a bag and meets whatever machine is in the meeting room. It is a small liability when the hub never moves and the adapter simply becomes another thing to lose — in that case the 128954 is the better buy. Otherwise this is a sound, slim 5 Gbps hub for flash drives, receivers and one external SSD.
Buyer’s Guide
Buy it if
You have both USB-A and USB-C machines and want one slim hub that plugs into either, with the adapter supplied rather than bought separately.
Skip it if
Skip it if the hub will live permanently on a USB-C-only laptop, if you need power for several drives, or if video or Ethernet are required.
Also consider
equip 128954 for a native USB-C plug, 128953 for the plain USB-A version, or a self-powered hub if several drives will run at once.
